I made this small trivet out of aluminum as a gift for my mother. I created a geometric design in SolidWorks, then used a waterjet to cut it out of a scrap of 1/4" aluminum sheet. To create a consistent matte surface finish, I bead-blasted the final part.
I glued small black-oxide nuts onto the bottom of the trivet in order to raise it off the table and increase airflow.
