Hi, and welcome to Webbys Walks West Midlands canal section. I hope to walk most of the canals you see listed on the left (Or above if you are reading on a mobile device). The aim is to vdeo the walk along each canal to a fixed point, then begin the next video from that point so you get to see all of the canal, as well as other walks and routes from some of those points. I'm trying to create a video's walking network. More videos added weekly.
It is said that the West Midlands has more miles of Canals than Venice. Most of the canals in the West Midlands are great for cycling, In some places you can travel through busy cities near main roads but have the feel you are in the countryside, A great example of this is along the Birmingham Mainline Canal through busy Smethwick. Cycling along the towpath in a green corridor you are in a valley surrounded by trees, deep in industrial history.
