BIRMINGHAM MAINLINE CANAL | WALSALL CANAL | DAW END CANAL | ANGLESEY BRANCH CANAL | WYRLEY AND ESSINGTON NATURE RESERVE ROUTE (DISUSED BRANCH) | CHASEWATER
The Wyrley and Essington Canal runs from the Birmingham Mainline Canal in Wolverhampton through Wednesfield, Willenhall and Bloxwich where it meets the Walsall Canal at Birchills Junction before continuing its journey to Brownhills via Pelsall, At Pelsall the Canal meets with the Cannock Extension Canal and then at Brownhills meets the Daw End Branch at Catshill Junction, The Canal continues a short way to Ogley Junction where the Wyrley and Essington terminates and the Anglesey Branch continues a short way to Chasewater. I first walked these in 2021, then decided to re-walk and film the route again in 2026.
WYRLEY & ESSINGTON CANAL (Part 1) My first walk along the towpath of the Curly Wyrley, starting at Wolverhampton we make our way to the Wyrley and Essington and then on to Wednesfield finishing at Bentley Bridge Retail Park at the former Wednesfield Junction next to the Nickelodeon Pub
WYRLEY & ESSINGTON CANAL (Part 2) My second walk along the towpath of the Wyrley and Essington Canal, continuing from the former Wednesfield Junction where we finished in part 1, and making our way to Devils Elbow Bridge on Ashmore Park, we have a little look at Wednesfield High Street along the way
WYRLEY & ESSINGTON CANAL (Part 3) My third walk along the towpath, continuing from Devils Elbow Bridge on Ashmore Park, finishing at the former Sneyd Junction, passing through Rough Woods Country Park along the way
WYRLEY & ESSINGTON CANAL (Part 4) A short walk along the towpath continuing from Sneyd Junction and finishing at Birchills Junction near Walsall where the Walsall Canal joins the Wyrley & Essington

WYRLEY & ESSINGTON CANAL (Part 6) AND THE ANGLESEY BRANCH CANAL My last walk along the towpath of the Wyrley and Essington Canal, we continue from Catshill Junction in Brownhills and make our way to Ogley Junction where the Wyrley & Essington now terminates, then continue by walking the full length of the Anglesey Branch Canal to Chasewater
