The Beacon Way runs from Sandwell Valley Park in West Bromwich and on to Walsall and then into Staffordshire. The walk takes in the Forest of Mercia, lakes, nature reserves, woods, and canal towpaths. The walk crosses over Barr Beacon, one of the highest hills in the area, and is where the route gets its name. The northern end links with the Heart of England Way on Gentleshaw Common after passing through Chasewater Country Park and Brownhills Common.
