In the Birmingham Old Mainline Canal video series we are covering in three videos from Smethwick Junction on the Birmingham Mainline Canal and runs alongside and around Oldbury and rejoins the new Mainline at Tipton at Factory Junction. Along the way the Old Mainline meets with the Spon Lane Locks, The Titford Canal, The Gower Branch Canal and the Dudley Tunnel Branch Canal. The canal also crosses over the new Mainline and the Netherton Tunnel Branch Canal via Stewards Aqueduct and Tividale Aqueduct.
WALKING THE BIRMINGHAM OLD MAINLINE (PART 1)
Walking from Smethwick Junction along the top end of Galton Valley to Spon Lane Junction, then a quick walk down Spon Lane Locks to the new Mainline. Part 2 continues from Spon lane Junction.
WALKING THE BIRMINGHAM OLD MAINLINE (PART 2)
Continuing my walk along the towpath of the Birmingham Old Mainline Canal from Spon lane Junction, across the Stewards Aqueduct, crossing the New Mainline and on around Oldbury, passing the Titford Canal at Oldbury Locks Junction and finishing this video at Brades Hall Junction where the Old Mainline meets the short Gower Branch Canal.
WALKING THE BIRMINGHAM OLD MAINLINE (PART 3)
The final part of my walk along The Old Mainline Canal, continuing from where we left part 2 at Brades Hall Junction, passing over the Netherton Tunnel Branch Canal at Tividale Aqueduct, we pop down for a quick look at the tunnel entrance. Then we continue along passing Tipton Junction where the Dudley Tunnel Branch Canal meets the Old Mainline and then on to Tipton finishing at Factory Junction where the canal rejoins the Mainline Canal.
