Touch and Social Connection

Looking for a quick and efficient way to boost your mood under stress AND improve your relationships? According to research, there are two main ways to do both! The power of touch is extremely beneficial to those dealing with stress as it can reduce pain, boost your immune system, and release oxytocin (helps you feel connected to others). In addition, small acts of kindness can also go a long way, such as sending a thoughtful text or listening to a friend’s problems. With nice gestures, you are making others happy which in turn will make you happy too. Completing both strategies has been seen to lessen the effects of stress and create closer bonds with others.
