Portion Control

Have you ever been served your food at a restaurant and thought, “Wow, that’s a lot of food?” If so, you aren’t alone. Research shows that many portions at restaurants are at least double what they were 20 years ago. Often, one portion is enough food for two people- if not more! Take a bagel for example, 20 years ago bagels were each, on average, 140 calories. Now, bagels, on average, are each 350 calories. That’s a difference of 210 calories! Consequently, because Americans have gotten used to eating larger portions sizes than they need, many Americans struggle with their weight. So next time you’re out at a restaurant, consider only eating half of the portion that you’re given, and taking the rest home.
