Dissertation Award

The Databases and Information Systems Section (DBIS) of the German Informatics Society (GI) will honor two excellent dissertations with the DBIS dissertation award of the 20th conference on Database Systems for Business, Technology and Web. Outstanding dissertations in the field of concepts, techniques, extensions and applications of data management and information systems are eligible for application. The prize includes a financial award. The dissertation award committee is chaired by Prof. Dr. Gottfried Vossen.

The prizes will be awarded on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 during the Reception at the Dresden City Hall. 

The awarded dissertations are automatically accepted as short papers to BTW and are published in the conference proceedings. The awardees will present their dissertations on Thursday March 9 in Research Session 6. 

Winners of Dissertation Award 2023:

• Azin Ghazimatin, Saarland University, Dissertation: Enhancing Explainability and Scrutability of Recommender Systems

• Tiemo Bang, TU Darmstadt, Dissertation: Adaptive Architectures for Robust Database Management Systems
