Transport to & in Dresden
In the week prior to the start of the conference, all registered participants have received an email with a voucher that serves as a one way ticket with public transport within the city of Dresden from the train station/ airport/ bus station where you are arriving to the conference venue. This email-ticket is only to be used once for your transport to the venue on the day of your arrival and has to be presented together with a personal ID in case of a ticket inspection.
At the conference venue you will receive your name badge that has a QR Code on the rear side that serves as your free bus and tram ticket during the conference within the city of Dresden (Tarifzone Dresden) from Monday 6th to Friday 10th of March with DVB/VVO. (please see info below).
Please note: The local operator for tram and bus service has announced a major strike for
Wednesday, March 08. On that day, probably almost all buses and trams operated by DVB within the city of Dresden will not be available.
From Dresden Main Train Station (Hbf) it is a 30 minute walk to the conference venue.
To get to the reception at the City Hall on Wednesday night (start: 18:30) , there are several options:
BTW bus shuttle (2 busses for 75 persons each) starts at 18:00 at the Faculty to the City Hall. The 2 busses will come back to the Faculty and start from there (around 18:20) for a second tour to the City Hall - if required.

Please get off at "Pirnaischer Platz” and walk to the City Hall. Your conference ticket has a QR Code that is also valid for those regional bus providers. Please keep in mind that all buses will probably be heavily occupied. More info here: https://www.dvb.de/en-GB/
Also, MOBIbike or ↗ E-Scooter might be an alternative, but potentially heavily used.

Dresden is an important railway junction within the ICE and EC/IC networks of ↗ Deutsche Bahn.
Several services daily to all major German cities. All EC/IC/ICE trains stop at the Dresden central railway station and in Dresden-Neustadt.
By Car
Dresden can be reached directly on three motorways. The A4 approaches the city from the West (Cologne-Eisenach-Chemnitz), and the A13 from the North (Rostock-Berlin). The A17 links the Saxon capital with Prague.
Please note that parking at the conference venue is difficult. Using public transport for transport in Dresden is highly recommended.

By Plane
Airport Dresden is approximately 9 km north of the city center.
Transport from the airport to the city center/conference venue:
S-Bahn station Dresden Airport is located in the basement of the terminal. S2 suburban line trains depart every 30 minutes Dresden-Neustadt (14 minutes ride) and Dresden Hbf (21 minutes ride). At Dresden Hbf you change to tram 3 that takes you to stop „Münchner Platz“ in 5 minutes.
A taxi from the airport to the city center takes between 15 and 30 minutes depending on the traffic. As TU Dresden campus is situated in the south of the city, it takes around 30 – 35 minutes to go there by taxi.

Public Transport
Public transport is recommended for getting around in Dresden. Parking space is very limited at the conference venue. Trams and busses are operating frequently all over the city and the outskirts.
