Remember:

Child/daycare facilities cannot be selected for Field Experience; even if they have a Pre-K or K programs.
Before school care or after school care cannot be selected for Field Experience.
If the facility has been approved by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) for a certain grade level, you will be approved to complete your field experience for that grade level only.

Students Must:

BSU mandates background checks for all students. However, if the chosen school district does not have its own background check process, our university's requirements still apply. Please ensure compliance with BSU's background check procedure. Complete the PGCPS Student Onboarding Process.
Complete and notarize the BSU Criminal Disclosure History form.

Students must obtain the principal's written permission to complete the practicum in the principal's school.

Principal Permission Form:

It is recommended to do the following after choosing the school:

call for an appointment with the principal
complete the Principal Permission form; have it ready for signatures
take your BSU ID
take your proof of fingerprints
ask about their Safe School policy and training
ask what are the teachers' hours
take the Expectations form and Attendance sheet (EDUC 101 & 201 students); remember, this form need to be signed by you and the pre-service teacher the first day and the attendance sheet should be signed each day you attend
be prepared to ask the question about School's Demographics for the previous school year; (where can you find the information?) for a Maryland's district try the Maryland Report Card website.
