Pre-service practicum students are required to work with the mentor teacher as a teacher assistant and to complete a comprehensive case study on one pupil.
Suggested activities for pre-service practicum students:
Tutor the assigned pupil (case study) each day
Observe the assigned pupil in the classroom and in informal settings
Grade papers
Teach small group lessons
Accompany pupils to special classes
Assist with classroom activities designated by the teacher
9 days required (attend one day a week for 9 weeks).
Read the Practicum 2 handbook; it contains the course description and assignments.
Tools for Field Experience
Expectations - complete the first day with the pre-service teacher and give it to your professor.
Attendance sheet - recorded each day you attend.
Do not use or play on your cell phone in the classroom. If you have any research for the course, ask the pre-service teacher to use the classroom computer.
