Practicum I students are required to work with a classroom teacher as a teacher assistant and to complete a comprehensive log describing general teaching strategies and classroom management strategies.
Suggested activities for pre-service practicum students:
Tutor small groups of pupils
Check pupils assignments
Secure and operate multimedia
Accompany pupils to special classes
Prepare bulletin boards
Prepare teaching materials
Assist with classroom activities
9 days required (attend one day a week for 9 weeks)
Read the Practicum 1 handbook; it contains the course description and your weekly assignments. It should also assist you in explaining the course and your requirements.
BSU Field Experience Requirements:
Submit proof of your fingerprints
Submit proof of Child Protective Services (CPS) forms
Submit proof of SchoolSafe online training
Submit the notarized BSU Criminal History Disclosure Statement

Expectations - complete the first day with the pre-service teacher and give it to your professor.
Attendance sheet - recorded each day you attend.
Do not use or play on your cell phone in the classroom. If you need to do research for the course, ask the pre-service teacher to use the classroom computer.

What to expect after submission of required forms:
You will receive an email from Professor Green, Practicum Supervisor stating you are cleared to start your field experience at your school with a pre-service teacher.
While you waiting to be placed read the Practicum Experience and Professional Disposition pages before your first day.
You should plan your days on a calendar while reviewing the School System calendar. Make sure you will complete the required number of days. Give that information to your pre-service teacher the first day.
