Open the Chrome Internet Browser (install it if necessary).
Using Chrome, download the Internet Archive "Save a Page" Plug-In for Chrome. Open a new tab and type go to chrome://extensions in the address bar (omnibox).
Check the box for developer mode
4. Locate the file you just downloaded using a file manager such as “My Computer” or Mac’s “Finder,” then drag it into the open tab.
5. Accept/say “Yes” if Chrome asks you any questions.
6. Test the Extension by
going to any web page
Right click in an open area
Select “Save this Page the Internet Archive”
There is a javascript “bookmarklet” which can be added to the bookmarks bar of any browser that will also allow you to save pages by clicking it. Install here: http://marklets.com/Save%20Page%20to%20Wayback%20Machine.aspx (H/T Denise Rayman)
The Internet Archive plug-in is not able to capture PDFs of publicly accessible materials and university records. These materials will have to be uploaded to the Internet Archive manually.
Create an Internet Archive account to login at https://archive.org/index.php
Click “Upload Files”
Select file from location or drag file to upload
Add descriptive metadata for file including a brief description, subject tags, dates, creator, and any other information if known
Click on “Upload and Create Your Item”
Save the link of the item to clippings to Clippings Index
