DROID is a file format identification tool that reads the internal header information of a file and uses an algorithm to compare that information to PRONOM technical registry. DROID can tell you whether the file format is “positive,” “tentative,” or “unidentified.” For each positive or tentative match, DROID provides a PRONOM Unique ID (PUID), MIME type, format and version.
Refer to the DROID manual for more information on how to use the program and interpret your results.
