Cemetery Update
Planning
1. New Forestry plantation at Llwyn Coch Barns – Response from Scottish Woodlands didn’t satisfy the councillors, therefore responding and forwarding to Gareth Pugh, and possibly look at alternative contacts to voice our concerns.
2. No other planning applications at the moment (since the meeting, Tyn Wtra have re-applied for planning, have email Gareth Pugh regarding this to see what we can do)

BETTWS COUNTY COUNCIL MINUTES
MEETING: 24th SEPTEMBER 2018
ATTENDING: All councillors present
Planning
1. New Forestry plantation at Llwyn Coch Barns – concerns have been mentioned to some
council members regarding the view from properties in the area, and the long-term effect it will have on them, such as decrease in value of the property in the future. Concern to be reported to Charles Gittins at Scottish Woodlands. 2. Agricultural Building at Cwm Cignant (18/0406/FUL) – No issues
PSPO (Public Spaces Protection Order)
• Council are looking to introduce areas of service managed land where they will possibly ban dogs to avoid unreasonable behaviour by some dog owners that is affecting the quality of life for a number of local communities.
• A list required of the land which will be included in the Bettws area.
Tregynon School Governor
• Due to Janet’s retirement, we need to have a representative from Bettws Community to represent as a Governor. Suggestions as follows:
o Julie Jones o Mark or Anne Marie (Smithy) o Newsletter to advertise, if none of the above are interested
Cemetery
• Pricing: Clarified to stand on with current prices £500 for plot, £100 for re-opening, Ash plot (to include scattering of ashes) TBC – will review in 12 months
• Criteria: Main points decided by the councillors as follows: 1. Permanent resident of Bettws Cedewain parish or recently resided 2. Immediate family relatives buried at Bettws Cemetery 3. An existing or present resident who has made a significant contribution to the village, in
a voluntary capacity 4. Applicants from outside the parish may have their ashes interred in an existing family
grave (or, if the grave is a double one, a spouse living outside the parish may be buried in the grave)
• Regulations: Some changes made to the standard (Cemetery document has all amendments)
• Contract: Signed, as proposed by Rachel Roberts and second by Alun Horn, legal transfer now in action.
