Dr. Matthew Scotch

Matthew Scotch is the Assistant Director of the Biodesign Center for Environmental Health Engineering and a professor in the College of Health Solutions at Arizona State University. He received his PhD in Biomedical Informatics from the University of Pittsburgh and a Masters of Public Health from Yale University. Later he held his postdoc at Yale University. Currently, Dr. Scotch has projects that focus on phylogeography models to identify factors that support viral spread. He also works with geospatial metadata in virus sequence databases to include observation error for virus phylogeography. His research centers on theory and application of phylogeography to study how zoonotic RNA viruses migrate. His work is funded by NIH, NLM, and NIAID.
