Dr. Joanna Wares

Dr. Joanna Wares is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at the University of Richmond. She received her PhD from the University of Maryland in Applied Mathematics and Scientific Computation and went on to do postdoctoral work at Vanderbilt University. Her research utilizes computational techniques to address topics in public health, from how to reduce the spread of infectious diseases to reducing overdose deaths due to opioid use. She is also interested in intertwining mathematics and social justice curriculums.
