Dr. Benjamin Ridenhour

Benjamin Ridenhour is a biomedical researcher within the mathematics department at the University of Idaho. After studying at Vanderbilt University, Utah State University, and Indiana University he held a postdoc at Washington State University and later the University of Idaho. Later he joined the Influenza Division at the US Centers for Disease Control. He has served on the faculty at the University of Notre Dame. Currently he is a professor of mathematics at the University of Idaho. His research centers on the development and application of quantitative methods for evolutionary ecology with a focus on human health. His work on the interactions of microbiomes and epidemiological modeling of infectious diseases has influenced policy. During the 2009 H1N1 pandemic he helped developed models for the CDC and more recently he has been working on state-specific COVID-19 model for Idaho.
