Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF) are government facilities funded through Medicaid for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to provide health care and rehabilitation services to individuals to promote their independence. Service Information
These services are provided as long as the individual needs them and continues to qualifies for them.
ICFs provide services to individuals in a residential facillity including health and nutrition services, habilitation, and an individualized program plan for each resident.
They also provide day programs for the residents to be apart of where they can work in the community, participate in activities, and engage in community interests. These all align with their goals and are a part of the active treatment (AT) they receive while living in these ICF programs.

ICFs may be a good fit for you if:
You require a lot of supervision throughout the day
You would benefit from active treatment services consisting of a program of specialized and generic training, treatment, and health services
You would like to gain as much independence and self determination as possible
You would like to/need to live away from home to receive the support that you need
To qualify for an ICF program, you have to be:
A Medicaid recipient
An Individual in need of, and receiving, active treatment (AT) services
AT refers to aggressive, consistent implementation of a program of specialized and generic training, treatment and health services. AT does not include services to maintain generally independent clients who are able to function with little supervision and who do not require a continuous program of habilitation services.
