Metro Parks DisAbilities is a day program in Davidson County that provides opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to have fun activities to do, discover their interests, and keep active throughout their day. Program Information
Some locations have pools, fitness centers, tennis and pickleball courts, etc. so participants have many opportunities for fun activities during the day such as swimming, tennis, basketball, ice skating, etc.
They also have fun activities like fitness classes, crafts, cooking classes, bowling, movies, etc.
*Each location differs in the activities offered based on the facilities and capacity.
Metro Parks does not provide transportation, but they do help set up their participants with WeGo Access for transportation to and from the community center each day along with transportation to their off site outings.

The program is open Monday through Thursday from 8am to 2:30pm
No, participants can join the day program as many times a week as they want.
No, meals are not included and participants bring their own lunch each day.
Each location has the capacity for around 25 participants, with the main campus being able to accept 45 participants.
Metro Parks also has sports leagues for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities of all ages.
Sports include basketball, cheerleading, soccer, bocce ball, etc.
They also put on free community events for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and friends and family to participate in monthly such as dances, movie days, etc.

To qualify for DisABILITIES program, you have to be:
At least 18 years old
Have an intellectual or developmental disability
Be a Davidson County resident
*Participants who need help with feeding, toileting, or have aggressive behaviors will be required to provide a personal assistant to attend with them. Participants who are medically fragile and have feeding tubes, oxygen tanks, etc. will be required to provide a nurse to attend with them.
You can call them at (615) 862-8489 to complete a registration form to be put on the waitlist.
After filling out a registration form and being put on the waitlist, staff will reach out when they have availability to set up an interview.
The interview is with the caregiver and applicants and is to determine what support the applicant will need while in the program.
A tour of the preferred site will also be given.
Once a preferred site has an opening, staff will reach out to begin the admissions process.
No, there is no application fee.
The program is a donation based program. It is requested that each participant donates $150 per year (January-May) but it is not required.
Participants are required to pay for the outings that require fees such as bowling, etc.

Yes, the DisABILITIES program encourages tours for potential applicants. Once you complete a registration form, staff will reach out to set up a tour for your desired site. Tours to multiple sites can also be provided if requested.
