BrightStone Residential is a residential program in Franklin, TN for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to gain life skills while living independently in a supportive environment on the BrightStone property. Program Information
This is a residential program with one male house and one female house on the BrightStone property. They have live-in home managers that help with daily tasks and independence (helping them get up, get ready for the day and for their activities, and take them to the day program). They are gone during the day from 8:30am-3:30pm, and residents are required to be out of the house when a manager is gone unless a pre-determined exception is made.
The house manager is not required to provide one-on-one assistance throughout the night but is present on site in the case of an emergency. There are alert buttons in each room and bathroom that can alert the staff in case there is an emergency anytime of the day or night.
On the weekends, there are weekend staff that stay at the house 24/7 from Friday at 4pm until Sunday at 4pm to help with the needs of the residents.
The residents also have the opportunity to participate in BrightStone's day program. For more information on the day program, please go to the BrightStone Day Program page.
If they are not in the day program, they need to have an activity to do during the day (volunteering, job, etc.) that gets them out of the house when the house manager is not home.
Each house has a van, and staff will take residents out into the community on weekends.
BrightStone is beginning a supported employment service with job coaches to help residents get jobs and assist with the transition to employment when needed.
BrightStone residential housing is on BrightStone's property at 3000 BrightStone Pkwy, Franklin, TN 37064.
Residents are also able to have meals and snacks with the day program.
There are four residents in each of the two houses, and there are plans to expand to more houses in the future.
BrightStone may be a good fit for you if:
You are looking to improve their independence
You are wanting to participate in the community while also socializing with peers
You want to gain independence while living in a supportive environment
You want to live away from home while also having participating in a day program
You want to learn life skills that can help you become more independent
To qualify for the BrightStone Residential program, you have to be:
At least 22 years old
Need to have a level of independence where no assistance is required through the night unless there is an emergency
They are not qualified to administer medications at this time (participants should be able to monitor and self administer their own medication with pill boxes, automatic medication dispensers, etc.)
*Some residents have automatic medication dispensers that have been provided through funding where a contracted pharmacy comes to fill the machines and then administers medication when scheduled.

Make sure to check off "Live-in Residential Program" on the form.
After a form is submitted, you will be contacted by a staff member to answer questions you may have and to walk you through the next steps of the process.
There is an extensive waitlist, so it could be a couple years before a candidate gets placed in housing. It also could be sooner depending on how many they are accepting and if others on the waitlist are ready to move in.
There is a $300 fee to apply to the residential program.
Residents pay a residential fee to cover rent and services provided along with a day program fee to participate in the day program throughout the week.
