Transair Limited was a private, independent airline formed in 1947, initially as an air taxi operator at Croydon Airport. By 1952, the airline was exceeding in newspaper deliveries. 1953: Transair began IT charter flights to the Mediterranean on behalf of Horizon Holidays.In 1957 the airline was acquired by Airwork and became a subsidiary airline. Transair was also subsequently awarded a European contract for trooping by the UK War Office.May 1958: Transair relocated its entire operation from Croydon to Gatwick.July 1960: Airwork controlled airlines (Airwork Helicopters, Air Charter, Bristow Helicopters, Channel Air Bridge, Morton Air Services and Transair) merged with Hunting-Clan to form BUA.
