From trials to triumph: 4th year Psychology students are now pinned with purpose — a symbol of honor and the weight of responsibility that comes with it.
Last Saturday, October 18, 2025, the Adamson University Theater opened its doors for the new beginning of the 4th-year psychology students with their guardians to celebrate their triumph and to welcome the new challenge that awaits. As the Adamson University Psychological Society held the pinning ceremony titled “Triumph Beyond Trials: Pinned with Purpose, destined for Greatness,” the ceremony centered on celebrating their dedication and perseverance from the difficulties they encountered through the years. In addition, the event allows the institution to have the opportunity to say words of appreciation, advice, and inspiration in moving forward as future psychology professionals.
Before the ceremony began, at 7:00 am, registration took place at the entrance of Adamson University, where the members of the Legal and Secretariat Committee, along with batch representatives were stationed. The procession started at 8:00 AM, where the guardians entered the theater first, followed by the students. The hosts who appeared are Ms. Cecille Rose C. Valero, a 3rd-year BS Psychology student, and Ms. Czearine Kate Ann I. Padilla, AUSG Representative of ADU-PULITIKA. After the hosts introduced the 4th-year psychology students by their sections, the ceremony continued with a prayer, followed by the Adamson Hymn and the Philippine National Anthem, sung by the Campus Ministry Ensemble.
As the ceremony progressed, AUPS Adviser Ms. Mary Louise Miranda opened the event by delivering an uplifting message to the students. Her message focused on the hardships and prosperities a student experienced throughout their journey of learning. At the end, she left the audience with the saying "When you experience uncertainties and exhaustion about your skills and competencies, remind yourself that regardless of circumstances, do it. Hanggang ‘di niyo naman ikamamatay, go lang nang go," emphasizing that you should not give up; if you can still continue and fight, if it can’t kill you, just walk forward, just fight, and succeed in your life, for there are many opportunities that await you.
Following the opening remarks, inspirational speaker Ms. Cyrelle Cagampang, a former Adamsonian who recently passed the Psychometrician Licensure Examination, entered the spotlight. She began by addressing the hidden struggles each student overcame to reach this moment and explained what it means to receive a pin as a psychology student. The speaker defined the pin as a powerful symbol, saying that “It may look simple, not shiny, not expensive, but it carries weight, stories, sacrifices, sleepless nights, and breakdowns.” While it is evident that each person carries different baggage in life, the pin serves as a symbol of the power of showing up, and that showing up is already an act of strength. After her speech, an awarding of certificates was presented by the AUPS president and adviser. Following that, the AUPS Silakbo took the stage and serenaded the crowd with their harmonious voices. After the performance, the pinning ceremony commenced. More than 138 Psychmates proudly received their pins.
Upon the completion of the distribution of pins, a cultural and lively performance by the Adamson University Dance Company – Folk and Dancesport was presented. Following the showcase, the testimonial speaker, Ms. Justine Danielle D. Reyes, RPm, a former psychology major now pursuing her master’s degree at UP Diliman and a successful Content Creator, was introduced to the audience. The speaker began by expressing her hesitancy to share her testimony as a Psychology graduate, uncertain whether she wanted to encourage students to pursue the same path. However, she went on to offer a realistic yet inspiring perspective on the life that awaits them. She ended her speech by leaving the students with a piece of advice: “Have insatiable curiosity about how things will always work out.” She emphasized the importance of letting life surprise you, as its twists and turns can shape and mold the person you become. Everything you experience will make the experience memorable—it may be a failure but through that failure you will be falling forward.
After the Testimonial Speech, Mr. Dale Francis Alfelor then led the newly pinned psychology students in the Oath Taking. Afterwards, a Words of Gratitude speech was delivered by the AUPS President, Ms. Reanne De Guzman, who acknowledged that each student’s success is just as much their parents’ success as it is their own. To wrap up the ceremony, the closing remarks were delivered by Ms. Iris Zoe Oreta, who thanked and congratulated all the students, parents, and guardians.

As the event concluded, the atmosphere was filled with heartfelt gratitude and pride. Many students shared how they felt inspired and uplifted by the speaker’s words, which gave them renewed motivation. They also mentioned their happiness and excitement, knowing that being pinned brings them one step closer to graduation.
The speaker’s advice, echoing perseverance, resonated deeply with those currently undergoing their clinical on-the-job training. They reminded them to keep moving forward and to continue striving to become the best versions of themselves. Truly, the 4th year Psychology students of Adamson University embodied the essence of the day’s theme — triumph beyond trials, pinned with purpose, and destined for greatness.
