There is never only one way to view “first days of school.” But today, we choose how our first page goes.
Today, August 13, 2024, Adamson University bids a lovely welcome (and welcome back) to Psychmates and Klasmeyts alike! Whether you’re a lively freshman or a striving senior, there is no mistaking that this day marks a fresh chapter of our lives. It’s a starting line that stands where we left off last year. Of course, plenty are excited at the prospect of reuniting with their beloved Klasmeyts and professors, exploring newly refurbished spots in the university, and doing new fun study and ‘gala’ sessions with friends. Indeed, it’s fantastic to return to ‘the nest’ to make new memories, receive greater wisdom, and create new experiences!
Then again, there may also be the silent others still collecting themselves from their stresses and workload from last year. We have our different stories. Our stories are what mold our outlook and perceptions of tomorrow. Past achievements build pride and confidence. Past mistakes shape lessons realized or, at times, regretful anxiety.
Without a doubt, every first day of school is a jungle of emotions and thoughts.
Still, there is the unmistakable presence of hope. New beginnings are a blessing and liberty that demand wise choices. It’s common to hear that first days of school come with impressions to make and expectations to set. And it’s true. However, that’s not all there is to be made. First days of school are just what they are: first days. There will be a second day, a third day, and so on. What we’ll do then may as well be just as important.
We might make old and new mistakes one way or another. That said, moving forward is our freedom from the past. While we set our eyes on growth and development, remember that this road isn’t meant to be easy. There will be hurdles to overcome. We’ll all take our time rising and falling, and perhaps, that makes our successes all the more precious.
Thus, let us together embark on this adventure with surprises that await. Embrace this present. But do not fear the future. While to some, this year celebrates a new start, a mere continuation, or the beginning of an ending curtain call, every day is a journey closer to our dreams and fruitful future. All we need are patient steps forward and the right company.
It’s time to show ourselves our potential to grow! We’ve come this far. See you, Psychmates!
