The tribunal of Loch Leglean is the least understood of all the tribunals in the British Isles. On the very edges of the Order, it is dominated by Ex Miscellanea and hedge magicians. The covenant has very little information on Loch Leglean, as their primary source on Scottish matters is Sir Alec, who has no experience with Scottish wizards.
Scotland is ruled by King Alexander II, who has good relations with King Henry III of England and whose influence extends over the lowlands and the east coast. French culture reigns in Alexander's court, and he gives preference to lords who speak French over those who are English or Gaelic. Galloway, the Hebrides, and other border regions on the west coast and north remain nominally independent.
Scotland was the site of one of the great conflicts in the Order of Hermes, the Spider War. This years-long conflict, waged between forces led by "The Spider," a Scottish sorcerer named Damhan-Allaidh, and Pralix, the former apprentice of Tytalus the Founder. The Spider led an army of Pictish sorcerers known as Gruagachan, along with giants, spirits, and faeries of the underworld. Pralix was at first assisted by magi from the Order, but in time came to rely on local hedge magicians from the British Isles, including beastmasters, elementalists, weather witches, and more.
Pralix eventually triumphed and the Spider was slain. She founded a new Order of British hedge magicians, the Ordo Ex Miscellanea, which eventually was absorbed into the Order of Hermes as the 13th House.
Tribunal meetings are held at Loch Leglean, a lake north of Edinburgh which was Pralix's summer camp.
While Loch Leglean is said to be home to hundreds of wizards, only six covenants are currently known.
There are no known Mercer Houses in Loch Leglean. There is a local breed of bloodthirsty faeries known as redcaps which have made it difficult for House Mercere to operate in Scotland.
