Since their arrival on Man, the magi have had many needs for a ship; often, that ship is the Lanval, commanded by a Breton woman named Rozenn. Rozenn is not part of the covenant, but has found the magi to be good clients.
Rozenn was born for the sea; not only does she have extremely keen sight, she can also guess the weather a day in advance. Born to a small fishing community in Brittany, she grew up in a physically demanding environment, making her tireless. As a child, she was often taken on the ship with her dad and other fishermen from the village, which is how she learned to sail. As Rozenn grew older, she started sailing by herself and taking more and more risks. Eventually, having surmised the direction and duration of a storm, Rozenn took a big risk which led to her ship being thrown off course and eventually coming within sight of Man.
She could have sailed home, but decided instead to make a go of things here. She’s managed to carry cargoes to Ireland, Scotland, and Wales, and has made enough money to hire a small crew of half a dozen professional Manx sailors. Rozenn’s ship is the Lanval, a 20 ton cog with a single deck, cargo storage below, and an enclosed aftcastle that houses a single small cabin and a small galley.
