Engraver
The Engraver is an expertly designed tool within Architron, tailored to etch depth and intricacy into quad surfaces using a 1D shape. This precision tool enhances models by adding sculptural details and complex reliefs.
Parent Object:
The Engraver excels with quad surfaces, accepting inputs such as:
Selected edges from a polygon object
Any Cinema 4D object convertible into quad geometry
This adaptability permits a diverse array of quad-based objects to be engraved, significantly expanding the creative possibilities available in Architron.
Defining the Shape 1D:
The 1D shape employed for engraving is definable either by associating a child object or by deploying the tool’s own parameters. Compatible child objects encompass Cinema 4D spline objects and NURBS curve objects, offering a robust suite for defining engraving paths.
Key Parameters:
Object:
Shape Detail: Sets the resolution for the 1D shape, affecting the intricacy of the engraving.
Phong Options: Controls the Phong shading for the resulting 3D object, impacting surface smoothness.
Rotate Orientation 90 Degrees: Rotates the placement of the 1D shape on the quads by 90 degrees for different engraving effects.
Align To Object Plane: Ensures the 1D shape aligns with the object plane when placed on the quads.
Engrave by Depth: Determines the maximum engraving depth through a specified value.
Engrave by Scale: Calculates the maximum engraving depth based on the scale of the quad selection and the 1D shape.
Cap Ends: Adds a cap patch at the ends of the engraving operation, creating a finished edge and completing the profile of the engraved area.
Shape 1D:
Shape 1D Options: Users can generate shapes like lines, slopes, and arcs from the provided parameters.
Slope: Adjusts the gradient for creating slope and arc shapes.
End Slope: An additional parameter for refining the curvature of arc shapes.
Multiply: Replicates the shape, whether sourced from parameters or a child object.
Invert Orientation: Flips the orientation of the 1D shape for alternate engraving directions.
Invert Depth: Reverses the depth of the engraving for a protruding effect instead of an indent.
