Roof
The Roof tool in Architron automates the creation of 3D roof structures from floorplans, working in conjunction with floors and walls.
It can be associated with either a floor or a wall object to generate the roof geometry.
The tool features a global Slope parameter that adjusts uniformly across hip and gable roof types.
For gable roofs, users have the flexibility to define which edges are sloped and which remain perpendicular to the ground. An automatic mode calculates gabled edges based on a preset ratio, while a selected edge mode allows users to manually choose edges when attached to an editable NURBS floorplan.
This selective gabling creates a diverse array of roof types, including side roofs. Additionally, attaching a curve object to the roof can transform a standard linear slope into a curved roof profile, broadening the architectural possibilities.
Key Parameters:
Object
NURBS Detail: Sets the resolution for the NURBS geometry of the roof.
Enable Phong: Applies Phong shading to the roof surfaces for a smoother appearance.
Angle Limit & Phong Angle: Determines the angle threshold for the Phong shading, influencing the light reflection on the roof's surface.
Roof
Roof Type: Select between "Hip" and "Gable" roof styles.
Slope Angle: Adjusts the angle of the roof's slope, applicable to both hip and gable roofs.
Gable Edges: Chooses between "Automatic" gable edge determination or "Selected Edge" for custom edge selection.
Hip-Gable Ratio: In automatic mode, sets the ratio to determine which edges become gabled.
