Postpartum
Doula Care & Guidance
A Little Extra Attention
In our capitalist society, many birth parents are left alone with their new children nearly immediately
Without the connection to and wisdom from elders, it is often a challenge for folks to become comfortable with their new life
In a world that has heightened anxiety for people new to parenting and for those with several children, sometimes a little guidance, or physical assistance is needed
I do still offer in home Pandemic care, though the requirements on the families I visit have unfortunately increased during this time.
Before I enter your home, information is needed for all parties.
As I am personally high risk of Covid-19, I am fully diagnosed, spending my days quarantined at home, except for doctors appointments. My wife works in a kitchen and she is particular about double masking, but the chance of infection are never zero. We have a strict system where she sheds her day as she walks in the door, with immediate showers, and many of her coworkers are also high risk, so they are also the types of people to mask hard and stay home unless they are at work, however the risks of infection are never zero.
If we decide to have me help in person, I require all who are present and ages 3 or older to wear masks at all times, while I am in your home.
Once the air is warm enough, any body work sessions will need to be out of doors, with masks on us both, to allow for air movement. If you do not have appropriate space at your home, I do have alternatives, though at home treatments are preferred for new parents.
Covid precautions considered, here are my Postpartum offerings:
Postpartum care is as individual as the act of creating and birthing children can be!
Do you have a toddler running around? Are you a first time parent who doesn't know the first thing about raising a kid, and you need help figuring out which direction is up? Have you had twins and are struggling with tandem feeding?
Discussion: What ever questions are heaviest on your mind, let's discuss. We can chat over video chat as many times as you need, and I'm happy to make a recording to send to you if that will serve you
Closure Ceremony: Some folks feel incomplete after they've given birth, and it can be helpful to create closure, and acknowledge that you are beginning a new life with each new child born. I can help guide your loved ones in creating a small ceremony to honor who you once were, as well as the newness unfolding.
If you are interested in having me come to your home to provide postpartum massage, and a small ceremony, I'm available for that!
Craniosacral: Is your newborn inconsolable, but obviously getting the nutrients they need? Some babies can benefit from craniosacral therapy to help them adjust to being outside of the womb.
Physical Help: Are you a single parent, or does your birth partner need to return to work pretty immediately? I'm able to come by to offer physical support either by helping with siblings, housework, or simply to watch the baby while you take a bath. It's super common for new parents to feel over touched, especially if they have 2 other children climbing all over everyone, including the new baby!
Something Else: Is there some way that you could feel supported by me that I haven't listed here? Please contact me, and we can discuss how to get your needs met!
You can contact me about any of the above Here! I look forward to receiving your inquiry
Am I not the postpartum doula for you? That's fine! Hope on over to my trusted practitioners page and learn about Deidre Rohan!
