Position Overview:
Sales Associates at ABC Shoes are vital to our store’s success, acting as ambassadors of our brand and ensuring every customer has an outstanding experience. Sales Associates should be passionate about footwear, committed to delivering exceptional service, and knowledgeable about the products we carry. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, team-oriented, and possess a positive attitude that contributes to a welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
- Greet customers promptly and courteously, creating a welcoming shopping environment.
- Listen to customers' needs and provide knowledgeable recommendations on footwear styles, fits, and uses.
- Conduct professional footwear fittings, including sizing and discussing specific footwear needs.
- Engage in active selling by introducing customers to new products, offering suitable alternatives, and suggesting add-ons like socks, insoles, or shoe care products.
Product Knowledge & Merchandising:
- Acquire a strong understanding of ABC Shoes product lines, including features, benefits, and brand distinctions.
- Stay updated on new arrivals, promotions, and store events.
- Organize, stock, and maintain displays to meet store visual standards; regularly replenish the sales floor to ensure popular sizes and styles are readily available.
- Manage backstock areas to ensure efficient retrieval and accurate inventory levels.
Sales Performance:
- Meet or exceed individual sales targets and contribute to team sales goals.
- Utilize effective upselling and cross-selling techniques to maximize each customer interaction.
- Encourage customers to join ABC Shoes loyalty programs or subscribe to our mailing list.
Operations:
- Operate the point of sale (POS) system accurately for sales transactions, returns, and exchanges.
- Handle cash, credit, and loyalty rewards transactions following Stan’s Footwear policies.
- Assist with store opening and closing procedures, including daily cash handling and end-of-day reporting.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and help to minimize shrinkage through proper handling of products.
- Keep fitting rooms and all store areas clean and organized.
Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with all team members to ensure smooth store operations and a positive environment.
- Participate in regular staff meetings, training sessions, and company events as scheduled.
- Be proactive in assisting fellow team members during peak times and support tasks as needed, including unpacking shipments and receiving products.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Customer-Focused Attitude: Prior experience in retail or customer service preferred but not required; a commitment to exceptional customer service is essential.
- Passion for Footwear and Fashion: A genuine interest in shoes, style, and helping people find their best fit.
- Communication Skills: Effective verbal communication skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor.
- Flexibility: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift boxes up to 30 pounds, and perform stock duties as needed.

Performance Metrics:
Sales Associates are evaluated based on the following metrics:
- Customer Satisfaction Scores (feedback and repeat visits)
- Individual Sales Goals and Contribution to Store Goals
- Product Knowledge and Recommendation Accuracy
- Adherence to Operational Procedures (POS accuracy, inventory counts, etc.)
- Team Collaboration and Reliability
