Style and Focus
I like to believe I am a strategic thinker, process architect, problem solver, and consensus builder. I love drafting agendas and reports, as well as organizing business plans.
The entire area of FINANCE is of great interest to me. While I am not an accountant, I have education in accounting which enables me to supervise bookkeepers in their roles. One of my first jobs was as a small lending officer and shortly thereafter, I studied real estate which gave me intro into understanding financial transactions and contracts. My service on the NSRA board included lots of discussion and hands-on experience with budgets, reports and investments.
While my primary focus has been brick and mortar retailing, I've also gained experience in e-commerce retailing numerous times for both my retail businesses and wholesale business. I personally built a few websites, including the first website for SHOES.COM (that was before we merged it with a national chain, spun it off and secured a wholesale partner and investor).
I've had a little involvement with helping import a couple of footwear lines into the United States. I've also gained valuable experience in wholesale, distribution, importing and product development in the gift and stationery industry. Commercial real estate has also been another area I've dabbled in.
