The "Miracle Apples" were created by Akinori Kimura in Aomori, Japan, after years of effort to grow apples without pesticides. Inspired by natural farming and motivated by his wife’s sensitivity to chemicals, he began this challenging effort in 1978. Despite nearly a decade of failed harvests and financial struggles, Kimura revitalized his soil using soybean root bacteria, eventually producing high-quality apples renowned for their natural cultivation.
Miracle Apples are grown using a "natural cultivation" method that avoids pesticides, chemical fertilizers, compost, or manure, relying instead on recreating natural woodland environments.
These apples do not turn brown from oxidation after being cut and ferment without decaying when left untouched.
Natural cultivation improves the plants' resistance to diseases and pests, resulting in safe, beautiful, and symmetrical apples that defy the conventional belief that apples cannot be grown in Japan without pesticides.
