CM212- Teaching Cook Islands Māori

This course focuses on the teaching of Cook Islands Māori and its educational use across the content curriculum. It covers the theoretical principles and practical techniques needed by teachers, helping them create effective and dynamic lessons and resources that will transform the way the language is taught in schools across the Cook Islands. The course provides teachers with confidence in their own knowledge of Cook Islands languages and culture, and the ability to pass on this knowledge to others in engaging and innovative ways.

We ran this course for the first time in 2020. It was taught by James Puati, Teau Sebourne and me (Ake).
