In CM211 2019 we learnt how to add subtitles to the videos on youtube. (Last time we used elan)
Itꞌs a a bit easier to learn to make the subtitles on YouTube but it does require a reliable internet connection - so thatꞌs the downside.
This is the story we used to practise doing the transcription (writing the Maori words) and the translation in English.
All the videos we make are hosted on the Araara Maori Kuki Airani YouTube channel. To enable the public to add subtitles you have to chose to make that possible when you upload the video. You can also do that later if you forget the first time. It's under the "advanced settings" for the video.
Or you can make a setting so that every video you upload will allow people to contribute subtitles.
Making subtitles involves several skills and translating does as well.
