MMW L11 - Activated Charcoal

Introduction

What is activated Charcoal?

Produced from Charcoal which is made by a controlled burning of wood to about 800 to 900°C, then steam is passed through it to remove Carbon dioxide and other substances.

There are many uses of Charcoal ranging from commercial to domestic use. Apart from heating and cooking, it is used in water purification, and communication, as a decolorant, deodorant, adsorption, and neutralization of poisons, toxins, bacteria, and viruses. It can remove Carbon dioxide, Carbon monoxide, Ammonia, and many other pollutants.

Isaiah 38:5, 21 “Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years….For Isaiah had said, Let them take a lump of figs, and lay it for plaster upon the boil, and he shall recover.”

2SM 299 “A Rapid Recovery—A brother was taken sick with inflammation of the bowels and bloody dysentery….Then the thought came to me like a communication from the Lord to take pulverized charcoal, put water upon it, and give this water to the sick man to drink, putting bandages of the charcoal over the bowels and stomach….The result was that in half an hour there was a change for the better.”

1. Medical uses of Charcoal

It can be taken orally in the form of powder in warm water, in capsules or tablets. Used in poultices, as pastes, and ointments. It can be used to treat wounds, stomach ulcers and gasses, pains, and aches, and adsorb toxins and poisons. Here are some of the poisons, toxins and heavy metals which can be detoxified by charcoal:

Aconite, DDT, lead and lead acetate, poisons from plants, insects and animals, radioactivity elements, hydrogen sulfide, mercury and mercuric chloride, nitrogen dioxide, thallium, aconitine, alcohol, arsenic, aspirin, atropine, chlorine, morphine, dechlorophenoxyacetic acid, narcotics, opium, penicillin, pesticides, quinine, salicylamide, salicylates, stramonium, and scores of other drugs, toxins and germs.

To treat poisoning, insect or snake bite, combine Activated Charcoal with milk + vitamin C powder + Sunflower or pumpkin seed powder in a cup of warm water. Also apply on the affected area. The body uses calcium + vitamin C + vitamin E to neutralize poisons. Hence the addition of vitamin C powder (you can use baobab pond powder or real fruit juice). The Sunflower or pumpkin seeds will supply the needed vitamin E and Zinc.

The following diseases can be treated by using charcoal: stomach problems including acidosis and gasses, heartburn, fever, cancerous sores, and tumors. Skin disease, diarrhea, dysentery, cholera, jaundice, liver disease, kidney problems and stones, blood cleansing, ovarian cysts and uterine endometriosis, prostate and pancreatic enlargement, and many other health problems.

2. How do I make Activated Charcoal?

It is produced by controlled burning of wood in a kiln, metal container or soil, then pulverized (powered). Next, pass steam through it to increase the adsorption surface area and power to absorb toxins. This powder is now more powerful than plain charcoal powder, charcoal tablets and capsules.

3. What is the difference between absorb and adsorb?

Absorb – like a sponge absorbs water drawing it into itself. Charcoal doesn’t

absorb.

Adsorb - like a magnetic iron bar attracts metals to its surface only, rather than absorbing it inside itself. Thus Activated Charcoal pulls to its surface the poisons and toxins. Being a powder, the surface area of the powder particles is extra large, such that the surface area of one gram of powder can be as much as 2000m².

However, capsules have been found to be half potent, and tablets are quarter potent.

4. How do I prepare a poultice?

Sew a cotton cloth bag, making it according to the size of the area to be treated. The bag can be as small as 8 cm x 15 cm, or as big as 30cm x 50 cm for very large areas. Fill the bag with Activated Charcoal powder and sew or tie the mouth but leaving a space for the charcoal powder to spread flat over the treated area. Next, either dip it into boiling water for a few seconds to make it dump and hot. You can otherwise fry it on a pan with little water, and make it evenly hot by turning it to the other side several times. Make sure you feel the heat before applying it to the patient. After applying it flat on the area, tie it in place with a piece of another cloth or towel. Better if you wrap a plastic on top to retain the heat for a longer time. Leave it for 5 to 30 minutes - depending on the retaining of heat and how fast it loses heat. Then remove it from the area.

Caution: NEVER REUSE THE USED CHARCOAL BAG, because it is already polluted with the toxins from the first treatment. If you have to use the cloth bag again, throw out the powder and wash thoroughly before putting the new powder.

5. Uses of a charcoal poultice

Apply on wounds, sores, aching or pain areas, and organs. Toothache, swellings, pneumatic pains, and many more.

6. Oral Dosage

Depending on the seriousness of the illness, 1 to 2tbs in a cup of warm water two to four times a day. Children half the. Babies half to one teaspoon.

7. Contraindications

Not known to react when taken with food or other herbs. Doesn’t adsorb vitamins and minerals from the foods eaten. The only major aspect is its ability to neutralize poisons and toxins if taken together with drugs, and that might reduce the potency of the drug.

Conclusion

Pulverized /Activated Charcoal is one of Nature’s extraordinary gifts to humans.

Another EGW testimony:

2SM 299 “On Thursday Sister Sara McEnterfer [A trained nurse of experience well qualified for this type of service who accompanied Mrs. White and assisted her both as a traveling companion and private secretary.—Compilers.] was called to see if she could do anything for brother B’s little son, who is eighteen months old. For several days, he has had a painful swelling on the knee, supposed to be from the bite of some poisonous insect. Pulverized charcoal, mixed with flaxseed, was placed upon the swelling, and this poultice gave relief at once. The child had screamed with pain all night, but when this was applied, he slept. Today she has been to see the little one twice. She opened the swelling in two places, and a large amount of yellow matter and blood was discharged freely. The child was relieved of its great suffering.”
