Why do some concerts stay with us long after the final note? It's not just because of the music we performed. It's because, for a moment, the audience found a part of themselves in the music. This interactive clinic explores how intentional artistic planning can transform concerts into meaningful shared experiences that connect audiences to the music, to one another, and to the human experience. Through intentional programming, thoughtful repertoire sequencing, storytelling, audience engagement, and the strategic use of an emcee, participants will discover practical strategies for creating performances that inspire, engage, and resonate long after the final note. Whether programming decisions are made by a conductor, programming committee, or artistic leadership team, attendees will actively apply these concepts throughout the session and leave with a personalized Concert Experience Blueprint they can immediately use to create deeper connections with their audiences.

Amy J. Erhard
Amy J. Erhard is a two-time GRAMMY Music Educator Award semifinalist, conductor, and arts advocate dedicated to expanding access to music education and fostering lifelong engagement in the arts. A native of Eden, New York, she holds Bachelor of Music and Master of Music Education degrees from SUNY Fredonia, with graduate study in Conducting.
For nearly three decades, Amy has served Buffalo Public Schools, creating innovative programs and opportunities for thousands of young musicians. Her initiatives include the Buffalo Public Schools Summer Music Camp, Arts Day, All-City Jazz Initiative, and the citywide forGOT music? advocacy campaign.
Amy is Music Director and Conductor of the Buffalo Wind Symphony. Under her leadership, the ensemble received the John Philip Sousa Foundation Sudler Silver Scroll Award, becoming the first community band in New York State to earn this distinction.
Nationally, Amy serves the Association of Concert Bands as Convention Coordinator and Recording Secretary and is an active guest conductor throughout the United States. Her honors include Teacher of the Year, Business First’s Forty Under 40, and Western New York Instrumental Music Teacher of the Year. She believes deeply in music’s power to connect people, transform lives, and strengthen communities.
