Nature and outdoor spaces are an important part of learning and play at Aberdour Primary School. When pupils were asked what they would like to see to help wildlife thrive at the school, one idea stood out: restore the woodland pond.

The pond has fallen into disrepair, limiting the habitat it can provide. The project aims to restore it as a place for wildlife and as a living outdoor classroom where pupils can explore nature, learn outdoors and develop a deeper understanding of how to care for the environment.

The restored pond will also provide benefits beyond the school. A healthy pond can support local biodiversity, provide habitat for frogs, insects, birds and other wildlife, and create opportunities for families and community groups to connect with nature.
