Join us at the next CAP monthly meeting: Tuesday 26th May at the Foresters Arms 7pm
The Aberdour Community Action Plan group continues to meet regularly to turn community feedback into a clear and practical Action Plan.
We remain a resident-led, grassroots group, supported — but not run — by the Community Council and Fife Council.
Our focus is now on helping the community take forward its priorities, using the Action Plan as a guide while encouraging collaboration and open, constructive communication.
We are currently working on a draft of the Community Action Plan, using the North Queensferry Action Plan as a reference to help structure the document in a clear and practical way.
At the same time, we are still gathering information to build a full picture of the village as it is today. This includes collecting details about local groups and clubs, with basic information and contact details. If you are part of a group — or know of one — we would really value you getting in touch so we can include it.
We are also using the final survey analysis to identify key priorities and the actions they suggest. These are being organised into short-term “quick wins”, as well as medium- and long-term opportunities.
The aim is to create a document that works in two ways: as a snapshot of Aberdour today, and as a practical guide for future improvements, shaped by what the community has said matters most.
👉 Share information about your local group / clubWe are organising a final pitch event at the Aberdour Festival to help the community take ownership of the priorities that have emerged so far.
At this event, which is inspired by the Dundee SOUP, we would like to see local groups and residents present ideas for projects that respond to these priorities and help deliver real improvements in the village.
In the lead-up to the festival, we will run workshops to support this process. These sessions are designed to help shape ideas, connect them to the identified priorities, and prepare participants for the pitch event.
More information about dates, formats, and how to take part will be shared soon.
👉 Keep an eye out for our latest updatesAlongside event planning, we are working on the practical aspects that will support participation in these activities.
This includes developing a simple and transparent process for how people can put forward project ideas, how applications will be reviewed, and how funding will be allocated. We are also considering how best to support participants as they develop their ideas, including guidance and preparation through the workshops.
As we are not a constituted group, particular care is being taken to ensure that funding is managed in a way that is fair, accountable, and easy to understand. The aim is to make the process accessible, while giving residents the confidence to take part and lead their own projects.
👉 Don't miss out on our latest updatesA final analysis of all the data collected through the survey and workshops, has identified five priority areas for action:
🚙 Safer, slower, people-focused streets
🧳 Managing visitor pressure on beaches and public spaces
🩺 Strengthening access to essential services
👥 Creating and improving community spaces and hubs
Alongside these strategic priorities, residents also identified a range of practical “quick wins”, particularly around maintenance, facilities, and better use of existing infrastructure.
👉 Learn more about the findingsOur focus now is on continuing to develop the draft Community Action Plan while creating opportunities for the community to stay involved.
We will be sharing the survey findings and emerging priorities more widely, and checking that they reflect what residents feel is most important. Alongside this, we are preparing a series of workshops and a final pitch event at the Aberdour Festival, where people will be able to contribute ideas and take part in shaping local projects.
These activities are designed not only to gather feedback, but to support residents in taking an active role in delivering some of the priorities identified so far.
The Community Action Plan group’s role is to bring together shared priorities and help create the conditions for others to take them forward, working with existing groups and organisations where appropriate.
The aim is to have a clear draft of the Action Plan ready ahead of its planned launch at the 2026 Aberdour Festival.
We meet monthly to discuss how to move forward.
