Join us at the next CAP monthly meeting: Tuesday 26th May at the Foresters Arms 7pm
The Aberdour Community Action Plan did not start with ready-made answers.
It started by listening.
This page explains what we have done so far, how the group has worked, and how residents’ voices are shaping the next steps.
From the beginning, this has been a shared process between local residents and Fife Council.
Our approach has been to:
Listen before deciding
Involve people of different ages and backgrounds
Use surveys and workshops to gather views
Share progress openly as we go
This website is part of that commitment. It records the journey, not just the outcome.
The second stage focused on understanding what matters most to people in Aberdour.
We did this by:
Running a village-wide survey
Holding community workshops with residents
Talking directly with children at Aberdour Primary School
These activities helped us hear a wide range of views about life in the village, what people value, and what they would like to see improved.
We are now looking closely at what people told us.
Across different ages and activities, some clear patterns are emerging:
Strong pride in Aberdour and its community
The importance of nature, beaches, and green spaces
The value of safety, accessibility, and connection
Shared concerns about services, transport, and community spaces
We have now identified what matters most to the community and what the priorities are.
We are now working on the initial draft for the Action Plan and on organising more events to involve the community in the "quick wins" actions identified.
We are currently:
✔ Discussing the final findings
✔ Drafting the Plan
✔ Organising community engagment events
We are not done yet.
The Action Plan will only be meaningful if it continues to reflect the community’s voice. There will be more opportunities to get involved as the work progresses.
