An experienced archaeologist and expert at pattern recognition, Gabby was drawn to investigate mysterious ancient pillar relics on The Planet with Three Suns. Through her findings, she uncovers an existential truth: their universe was partly created by beings from another dimension – World Builders from the Beyond-Verse. Most would have turned completely to stone from this information, but Gabby possessed something unique that allowed her to endure it, though her form was still drastically altered, her limbs coated in craggy rocks. Additionally, she learned about a subset of these beings called Tricksters, whose strange worlds gave rise to Sparks of Inspiration and various individuals known as Cursed Beings. With this forbidden knowledge, Gabby's mission eventually becomes clear to her: to explore and understand more about these Cursed Beings.

Fun Facts:
Her journal was altered by her transformation as well; “some of the forbidden knowledge she absorbed bled into the pages”. It can now float, open by itself, turn its pages, and display the Glyphs visually (almost as holographic impressions).
Gets startled very easily; loud noises, sudden movements, things that happen when she isn’t prepared for them.
Absolutely terrified of balloons – not just the fear of it popping, but the static making them cling to her fur makes her really uncomfortable. Comfortable at a safe distance, but can’t stand being in the same room as one.
Prefers tea over coffee, but drinks both sometimes.
Quietly fan-girls over the other Cursed Beings, but doesn’t let anyone know about it, embarrassed.
Tries not to sound like she’s interviewing them – that’s kind of suspicious, and would raise questions.
Copes with her curse with dry humor – if she jokes around too much, though, she’s probably stressed.
The Cursed Pillars display strange symbols called Glyphs, which she can utilize to impart the rules they represent onto reality.
There are two main modes for each Glyph: Target Mode, where she can choose which entity is affected by the Glyph, and Aura Mode, where an entire defined area around her is affected. Aura ranges define stationary regions of effect at the moment of casting, while Target distances limit how far a Glyph may be applied but do not define an area. She decides which mode a Glyph follows at the moment of casting with a gesture.
She can either cast the Glyph immediately or prime it in a special “Spell Lattice” to use later. That way, she can prepare in advance and respond much quicker to sudden threats (instead of doing the hand gestures for the Glyph under pressure). She can only prime 1-3 Glyphs at a time; any more risks mental strain and sensory overload. Primed Glyphs are selected via instinct and intent; if Gabby panics, she might trigger the wrong Glyph unintentionally. Once used, the Glyph disappears and must be re-primed.
For gestures, red arrows represent the right hand, while purple arrows represent the left hand.
1-X: A Dance of Fire and Ice “But all of the vertical tiles have been turned into midspins”
Name: The Twin Spires
Shape: Roman numeral 2 – “II”, but the horizontal lines connect more.
Mode: Target
Max Target Distance: Standard – A 25-foot spherical radius around the caster.
Trigger: When a moving object reaches a natural vertical pause point – such as hitting the ground or ceiling, or reaching the apex of its upward motion.
Effect: At the moment a vertically moving object reaches a natural pause point, its remaining momentum may convert horizontally with a vector of equal or lesser magnitude. Gravity continues to act normally thereafter.
Duration: Instantaneous/~1 second (With some margin for error.)
Cooldown: ~3 seconds.
Typical Uses:
Precise throws – Throwing something straight up and redirecting it into a normally unreachable slot or shelf.
Damage reduction – Preventing dropped objects from bouncing or rolling into more danger. Cannot prevent the object from hitting the ground in the first place.
Gesture:
Target: A quick forward/horizontal gesture in the direction she wants the target to go.
2-X: Offbeats “But the only option is up”
Name: The Ascender
Shape: Unequal sign – “≠”, but the vertical line is straight instead of tilted.
Mode: Dual
Max Target Distance: Standard – A 25-foot spherical radius around the caster.
Range of Aura: Standard* – A 25-foot or 7.62-meter radius cylinder around the caster.
Trigger: When a motion occurs that is not deliberately directed downward or horizontally by the mover. Slips, drops, stumbles, momentum carry-throughs, recoil, loose objects falling, etc.
Effect: Any undirected motion is given a gentle upward reorientation, rising at roughly half the speed it would normally fall. This persists only for the duration of the motion; once the motion naturally ends, gravity resumes as normal.
Duration: Standard – 10-20 seconds.
Cooldown: ~6 seconds.
Typical Uses:
Safety-net – Preventing falling objects from hitting the ground.
Softening tripping hazards – Stumbles become brief upward bobs instead of falls.
Creating temporary floatiness for thrown or caught objects.
Gesture:
Target: A gentle upwards motion with a slightly curled hand, like using The Force on the target.
Aura: Same gesture as Target, but with both hands, and more grandiose.
3-X: THE WIND-UP “But every outside bend is a midspin”
Name: The Prism
Shape: Diamond – “♢”.
Mode: Target
Max Target Distance: Standard – A 25-foot spherical radius around the caster.
Trigger: When an object attempts to undergo a sharp change in direction. Includes corners, sudden turns, ricochets, hard pivots, or abrupt redirections.
Effect: Any sharp change in direction is replaced by a smooth outward arc of fixed curvature. The turn takes the shape of a perfect circular arc, its radius defined the moment the Glyph is active and remains constant for the duration. Friction, gravity, and momentum otherwise behave normally.
Duration: Standard – 10-20 seconds.
Cooldown: ~6 seconds.
Typical Uses:
Preventing ricochets – Objects no longer bounce off surfaces properly.
Enemy disorientation – Making enemies “slide” past openings instead of cutting inward.
Creating ice-like movement without removing friction or control entirely.
Turning sharp corners into wide, predictable turns.
Gesture:
Target: Pointing in the general direction of the target she wants to affect.
4-X: Love Letters “But the skewed tiles are bent backwards”
Name: The Range
Shape: Uneven M – “៳”, where the left peak is taller than the right.
Mode: Dual
Max Target Distance: Standard – A 25-foot spherical radius around the caster.
Range of Aura: Standard – A 25-foot or 7.62-meter radius sphere around the caster.
Trigger: When an object undergoing sustained, roughly linear motion experiences an abrupt change in direction due to impact or voluntary turning. Curves due to gravity do not constitute a directional change.
Effect: At the moment of directional change, the target’s motion is forced to retrace its exact incoming path in reverse back to its origin, matching the original trajectory but not reversing time. External forces, including gravity, resume normal influence after the reversal completes.
If the target is destroyed or loses coherent motion at the moment of impact, the effect fails to occur.
When cast on a person in Target Mode, only motions originating from their body are affected. Objects that separate from the body become independent targets unless the Glyph is cast in Aura Mode.
Duration: Standard – 10-20 seconds.
Cooldown: ~6 seconds.
Typical Uses:
Recall – Sending/bringing a dropped object back where it came from if cast in advance.
Projectile denial – Thrown objects or fired shots reverse the moment they pivot or ricochet.
Disrupting enemy movement without harm.
Gesture:
Target: A sharp pull-back or hook gesture inwards while focusing on the target.
Aura: A short, horizontal sweep outward with one hand, ending in a clenched fist.
5-X: The Midnight Train “But each repeated angled section gets longer”
Name: The Spiral Step
Shape: Almost the number 5 – “5”, but the top line moves next to and parallel to the vertical line.
Mode: Target
Max Target Distance: Standard – A 25-foot spherical radius around the caster.
Trigger: When a target repeats a recognizable angled action they have already performed at least once.
Any motion that meaningfully changes direction.
Effect: Each time a repeated angled action occurs, the resulting movement extends farther along the same direction than it did previously, increasing the path length by one incremental step per repetition. The extension occurs at the end of the action and does not alter its initial execution.
Each type of angled action maintains its own “extension counter” for the duration of the Glyph. All counters reset when the Glyph ends.
Each extension increases the action’s length by a fixed percentage of its original movement.
Duration: Extended – 30-60 seconds.
Cooldown: ~20 seconds.
Typical Uses:
Punishing predictable movement – A “pattern punish”; repeated dodges or feints overshoot and put enemies out of position. This is the Glyph’s main function.
Breaking formation – Marching or strafing patterns may slowly desync over time.
Gesture:
Target: A spiral motion with the finger, pointing roughly at the target.
6-X: PULSE “But every bend has a square in it”
Name: The Serpent Loop
Shape: “S”.
Mode: Dual
Max Target Distance: Compact – A 15-foot spherical radius around the caster.
Range of Aura: Compact – A 15-foot or 4.57-meter radius sphere around the caster.
Trigger: When an object completes an angled change in direction. (Follows the same logic as ]5-X[, but doesn’t require repetition.)
Effect: A small, solid cube materializes, centered on the vertex of the angled motion shortly after the motion completes.
~1.6-foot or 0.5-meter large cube.
Solid & inert with a neutral mass.
Spawns roughly 0.2 seconds after the action to prevent clipping. Will automatically offset itself to avoid intersecting with solid surfaces or bodies.
Floats briefly (for about a second), then obeys gravity for the rest of its ~3 second lifetime, dissolving cleanly afterwards.
Duration: Standard – 10-20 seconds.
Cooldown: ~6 seconds
Typical Uses:
Clutter – Throwing off enemy movement by cluttering the battlefield with short-lived blocks any time they move a certain way.
Inconvenient blockades – Creating boxes behind herself to slow down pursuers.
Falling hazards – If timed and positioned properly, she can create a box over a ledge to fall and disorient anyone below.
Creating short-lived platforms or weights
Gesture:
Target: Picture frame fingers (「 」) focused on the target. (Most fun way to do this)
Aura: Same as Target, but with a much wider focus.
7-X: Spin 2 Win “But the planets can jump between tracks”
Name: The Switchgate
Shape: A “V” with a horizontal line through it, slightly below the midpoint – “∀”, but the horizontal line stretches a little.
Mode: Target
Max Target Distance: Standard – A 25-foot spherical radius around the caster.
Trigger: When a targeted entity is moving along a continuous straight path at or above walking speed, and enters a region where a valid alternate track exists within hop range.
A “track” is defined as an environmental alignment (hallways, rails, conveyors, sidewalks, etc.) or an entity’s ongoing linear motion (wind blowing or water flowing in a certain direction, a crowd’s general path, etc.)
Hop range is roughly 2 meters or 6.56 feet.
Effect: The entity’s motion is reassigned onto the nearest valid alternate track, preserving its speed while reorienting its direction to match the new path. The transfer appears instantaneous but does not break continuity or motion. If no valid track exists, no reassignment occurs.
Duration: Instantaneous/~1 second (With some margin for error.)
Cooldown: ~3 seconds.
Typical Uses:
Redirecting hazards – Projectiles or charging enemies can be redirected either perpendicular or parallel to her, putting her out of harm’s way.
Item sorting – Moving items onto parallel or perpendicular conveyor belt tracks
Transferring vertical motion (falling) into horizontal travel.
Gesture:
Target: A gentle sweeping gesture.
8-X: Jungle City “But the next curse is one tile late”
Name: The Deferral
Shape: A mix between a T, an F, and a J – “于”.
Mode: Dual
Max Target Distance: Standard – A 25-foot spherical radius around the caster.
Range of Aura: Standard – A 25-foot or 7.62-meter radius sphere around the caster.
Trigger: When a distinct event would produce an immediate consequential effect.
A consequence is considered “immediate” if it is guaranteed to occur as a direct result of the triggering event, without requiring an additional decision, condition, or countdown to be completed.
Effect: For each triggering event, only the first consequential effect in its causal chain is delayed by exactly one beat; subsequent effects resolve normally. Delayed consequences resolve as if uninterrupted; actions taken after the triggering event do not alter the outcome.
In Aura Mode, multiple discrete events can be affected simultaneously.
Duration: Standard – 10-20 seconds.
Cooldown: ~6 seconds.
Typical Uses:
Desynchronizing coordinated attacks – Causing the second strike to happen before the first one may break enemy rhythm or timing.
Causing recoil to stack – If an enemy fires a weapon with recoil multiple times, yet the first shot is delayed, the recoil may stack and throw them off.
Delaying the results of traps – Either to avoid them completely if it’s predicted that one will go off or to lull enemies into a false sense of security.
Disorienting enemies – For when instant feedback is expected, but comes a second too late.
Delaying gravity – Can essentially imitate Coyote Time, but achieved through delayed causality, not physics manipulation. Gravity itself is unaffected, but can delay the start of falling.
Delaying & preparing better for recoil, backlash, or impact damage.
Cannot dodge consequences; once something has happened, the outcome cannot be changed.
Gesture:
Target: A short, sharp, “hold” gesture with one hand.
Aura: Same as Target, but slower, wider, and more pronounced.
9-X: Classic Pursuit “But each straight segment is twice as long”
Name: The Reprise
Shape: “A”.
Mode: Target
Max Target Distance: Standard – A 25-foot spherical radius around the caster.
Trigger: When a targeted object or body completes a continuous straight-line motion in a consistent direction (even if curved by gravity) and comes to a stop or clear interruption.
Effect: After a brief beat delay, the completed straight-line motion is replayed once in the same direction, at the same speed and for the same duration, originating from the stop point. This replay reproduces the motion’s outcome, not the action that created it.
Duration: Standard – 10-20 seconds.
Cooldown: ~6 seconds.
Typical Uses:
Extending reach without throwing harder – For example, pushing a box under The Reprise will essentially travel twice the distance with half the force.
Forcing stuck projectiles deeper – For example, a thrown spear that embeds into a wall, under The Reprise, will attempt to repeat that motion and embed itself deeper.
Crowd control – If an enemy is shoved backwards under The Reprise, they will slide backwards again, potentially breaking their stance or knocking them into hazards.
Gesture:
Target: Pulling leftwards with the left hand immediately after drawing the final line.
10-X: Butterfly Planet “But every skewed tile is turned into a right angle”
Name: The Rightward Bind
Shape: “B”.
Mode: Target
Max Target Distance: Standard – A 25-foot spherical radius around the caster.
Trigger: When the targeted entity attempts to change direction by a non-orthogonal angle during motion.
Effect: Any directional change made by the target is forcibly resolved as a perfect 90˚ turn.
Duration: Standard – 10-20 seconds.
Cooldown: ~6 seconds.
Typical Uses:
Fluid motion disruption – For example, if an enemy tries to circle around Gabby, under the effects of The Rightward Bind, it’s as if they’re trying to trace a circle with only straight lines and right-angled corners. This makes them awkward and predictable.
Turning projectiles predictable – Either ricocheting or curved projectiles become predictable right angles.
Area denial – A target trying to move with difficult or winding terrain finds themself working against it instead.
High speed = harder overcorrections.
Gesture:
Target: Pointing towards the target with both hands in a triangle-like position.
11-X: Heracles “But every half polygon has one more side”
Name: The Horned Cycle
Shape: An Aries symbol with a vertical line down the middle – “♈”.
Mode: Dual
Max Target Distance: Standard – A 25-foot spherical radius around the caster.
Range of Aura: Standard – A 25-foot or 7.62-meter radius sphere around the caster.
Trigger: When a physical polygonal shape is actively and directly interacted with, created, or targeted while the Glyph is active.
Effect: The affected shape gains one additional side per symmetrical half, while preserving total area and overall orientation. Applies to extruded shapes (like prisms), but only the cross-section is altered; height/depth is unchanged.
Shapes altered by The Horned Cycle remain altered until the Glyph is dismissed, at which point all affected shapes revert simultaneously.
Dismissal works with either a gesture (like a conductor’s signal to stop) or happens automatically if Gabby leaves the effective range (same range as Aura Mode).
Duration: Standard – 10-20 seconds.
Cooldown: ~10 seconds.
Typical Uses:
Defense modification – For example, Geo Barrier is one of Zana’s skills that gains more defense the more sides it has. This Glyph can increase the number of sides by two, increasing defence.
Another example, Donny’s Polygon Rush gives him more speed the more sides a shape used in battle has. Increasing each shape’s side count by two can give him an advantage if they are allied together.
Disrupting tessellated patterns – Tiled floors now have their tiles misaligned, causing confusion and missteps.
Mechanical disruption – Mechanisms that rely on exact, regular polygons may fail or misfire.
Gesture:
Target: Pointing in the target’s general direction with both hands.
Aura: A wide sweeping open-armed gesture with both hands.
12-X: Artificial Chariot “But every enclosed shape is bent backwards”
Name: The Twisted Gear
Shape: Almost a six-pointed asterisk – “*” or “*”, but thin and tall.
Mode: Target
Max Target Distance: Compact – A 15-foot spherical radius around the caster.
Trigger: When a targeted object with meaningful curvature experiences applied force, pressure, or impact.
An affected surface must form a continuous curved contour and wrap around an interior region (even if shallow).
The force necessary is much less than what is normally required to dent the object.
Effect: The local curvature of the impacted surface is inverted at the point of contact. Convex surfaces become concave, and vice versa. Only the affected patch of the surface is altered; the entire object is not inverted. The inversion remains for ~12-15 seconds, scaling with the size and depth of the object, before reverting smoothly to normal.
Duration: Standard – 10-20 seconds.
Cooldown: ~6 seconds.
Typical Uses:
Defense destabilization – Temporarily denting shields, armor, or barriers inward to destabilize their wielder.
Container deformation – Causing containers to buckle inward under minimal force.
Disrupting rolling objects – Inverting the curvature of wheels or other circular objects to affect the way they roll.
Foothold distortion – Footholds that curve inward now curve outward at the slightest touch, and vice versa, disrupting climbers trying to escape quickly.
Gesture:
Target: A quick grab at the air with the right hand, like crushing a soda can.

MN-X: Night Wander “But all of the tiles with icons are removed”
Name: The Hollow Sweet
Shape: “>O<”.
Mode: Target
Max Target Distance: Standard – A 25-foot spherical radius around the caster.
Trigger: When a targeted object bears at least one non-textual symbol whose meaning is conveyed iconographically, rather than through written language.
Includes symbols that identify function, instruction, affiliation, danger, direction, or magical effect.
Does not include written text, letters used linguistically, decorative art, photos, shapes with no symbolic meaning, or branding when identity is non-functional.
Effect: The carrier object of the qualifying symbol temporarily disappears, as a whole, for ~10 seconds. Afterwards, the object reappears in its original state.
Duration: Instantaneous.
Cooldown: ~3 seconds.
Typical Uses:
Momentary confusion – Removing signs, warnings, or instructions can disrupt those who rely on them.
Enchantment removal – If a magician has a locking sigil on a door, for example, The Hollow Sweet can remove the door entirely.
Doors with important symbols on them can also be removed entirely.
Erasing functional interfaces – Eg, buttons with symbols on them can be removed.
Removing wayfinder symbols – Exit signs, directional arrows, or evacuation symbols, etc.
Access denial – Removing ID badges, passes, or armbands with important symbols on them invalidates access for the person trying to use them.
Can basically remove anything that has a meaningful symbol on it (and such symbols can be added by the user).

Name: The Doublebeat
Shape: A T with a v at the bottom – “↧”.
Mode: Dual
Max Target Distance: Standard – A 25-foot spherical radius around the caster.
Range of Aura: Standard – A 25-foot or 7.62-meter radius sphere around the caster.
Trigger: When a distinct action delivers a single, forceful physical impact to a solid surface or body. The impact must be intentional or consequential, and deliver enough force to visibly jolt, dent, shake, or stress the impacted surface.
Effect: After a brief delay, the impacted surface produces a single secondary echo-impact, approximately 25% the force of the original impact.
Duration: Standard – 10-20 seconds.
Cooldown: ~6 seconds.
Typical Uses:
Disorientation – Striking an enemy now produces a second, weaker echo of the strike, throwing off timing and catching opponents off guard.
Illusory extra power – A struck object now has 25% of the original force applied to it a second time. That might be all that’s necessary to knock something off a shelf or move a stubborn target.
