Fun Facts:
Laughs like a maniac whenever they find something funny.
Loud always = funny.
Absolutely terrible at “Try Not to Laugh” challenges.
Very quick to overreact. (When things startle them, when things scare them, etc.)
Probably believes in magic and would explain most phenomena this way. (Also has a bunch of superstitions.)
VERY LOUD ALL OF THE TIME (struggles a lot with inside voice and knowing when to be quiet.)
The Exclamations are like the Dragon Shouts from Skyrim, which either enhances their skills or act as attacks.
1-X: A Dance of Fire and Ice "But all right angles are angles of rotation"
“TURN!”
‘Instantly’ rotates things 90˚. The louder the exclamation, the bigger the item they can rotate.
Could be used to solve puzzles, move big objects, or cause chaos.
Clockwise by default, but can choose which direction it turns
2-X: Offbeats "But upwards will make the frame rate lower"
“STUTTER!”
“Desynchronizes the character from normal time — to outside observers, they’re stuttering or flickering, but they’re actually dodging through split-second windows others can’t react to.”
Creates a bubble of time around the user & slows down time in a larger radius around themselves. Time outside the bubble is slowed down, and to others, the user seems faster.
The louder the Shout, the longer this is in effect for.
Similar to Mirage (Honeydew's 4-X ability)
3-X: THE WIND-UP "But all are three-stroke when the arc is nτ/4 (inner loop, n ∊ {1, 2, 3})”
“WIND-UP!”
After this Shout is activated, doing a specific 3-hit combo launches a powerful shockwave or blow.
The Shout itself is not the ability, but primes the character to use the ability. Because of this, the volume of the Shout doesn’t matter much.
4-X: Love Letters "But remember that it’s blocked after that"
“FORGET-ME-NOT!”
“Plunges the battlefield into a momentary darkness or obscurity” for everyone but the user.
The volume of the Shout determines how long the effect lasts.
5-X: The Midnight Train "But the exterior angle is a double shot"
“TWIN SHOT!”
Launches two attacks (projectiles/objects etc.) at slightly diverging angles.
“Adds 2” to the number of projectiles a person can launch at once; Fortissimo can’t usually use projectiles, but 0 + 2 = 2, so the next time they plan to launch a projectile, they can launch 2.
The louder the volume, the larger the radius of people affected, but it only applies to the next projectile they shoot.
6-X: PULSE "But the orbit is tilted at a 15˚ angle"
“TILT!”
This shout causes the playing field to suddenly and temporarily tilt around them, disorienting opponents’ balance.
The volume of the Shout either affects how big of an area this applies to or how long the tilt lasts for.
7-X: Spin 2 Win "But rotation can make the frame rate lower"
“STALL!”
Forces spinning objects to stop or slow down (kind of situational in real life, but there are plenty of spinning hazards in video games that, if they stop spinning, would make them easy to bypass (saws, platforms, etc.))
The louder the Shout, the longer the pause lasts for.
8-X: Jungle City "But the outer ring"
“OUTERWORLD!”
Allows the user temporary access to an alternative layer of reality, which lets them phase through walls, be immune to enemy attacks, or not be affected by normal physics.
The louder the Shout, the longer this lasts for, but it only ever lasts for a few seconds at most (maybe half a minute at maximum.)
9-X: Classic Pursuit "But all closed shapes are squares"
“BARRICADE!”
“Causes barriers or constraints to emerge” to trap opponents.
The louder the Shout, the more barriers are created.
10-X: Butterfly Planet "But no right angles”
“FREESTYLE!”
“Unleashes terrain-shifting or rule-bending effects.”
Similar to the mayhem of the Chaos Carrot (Zana's 2-X ability), but affects the environment instead of the user directly.
11-X: Heracles "But there is no rotation"
“ANCHORS AWAY!”
Temporarily locks the user in place and creates a powerful shockwave around them
“...implying the world moves, but the rhythm stays constant”
12-X: Artificial Chariot "But all the enclosed figures are multitaps"
“ECHO!”
A powerful sonic Shout that echoes twice in enclosed spaces (the better the acoustics, the more powerful this shout becomes.)
XC-X: Credits "But the snail and the rabbit are three-key multitaps"
“BURST!”
Similar to “WIND-UP”, this Shout acts as a primer that increases their power three-fold whenever they change speed.
XF-X: Third Wave Flip Flop "But all tiles except for the right angle (inner circle) are multitaps."
“CONTRAPULSE!”
A Shout that has different effects depending on where it comes from:
To things perpendicular to the user, a soft pulse, maybe to soothe or calm
To things right in front of or behind the user, a harsh, sharp sonic pulse that feels twice as strong; might knock opponents off-kilter
XH-X: Final Hope "But no bevel"
“FLATLINE!”
“Cancels all ongoing effects and motion in a short area of effect.”
Most notibly, can cancel the effects of other curses in the area.
XM-X: Miko Skip "But mid-spin and hairpins can change your FPS"
“SKIP!”
A Shout that makes it seem like time skips forwards suddenly, but it’s only a disorientation of perception.
(The best I can do to describe it is imagine they yell “SKIP” as you’re walking from point A to point B; you still walk there, but from your perspective, that moment in time seems to gets skipped, and this dissorients you.)
XN-X: Trans-Neptunian Object: "But if the number of straight tiles at each place ≤ 5, there will be a double hit"
"KNOCKOUT!"
???
XR-X: Rose Garden "But triangles can change your frame rate"
“PETAL BURST!”
Launches a flowery shuriken shape that itself launches simple triangles in multiple angles around it.
(Different colored triangles do different things; red ones make things faster, blue ones make things slower.)
XS-X: Party of Spirits "But all the game events are multitaps"
“SPIRIT ECHO!”
“A layered shout from multiple voices, causing every action to have a mirrored aftershock.”
Essentially doubles every action they do (kind of like a Jojo stand from Jojo's Bizzare Adventures)
ML-X: La nuit de vif "But the right and oblique angles of a closed figure are interchanged"
“WARP!”
???
MN-X: Night Wanderer "But it has always been upward"
“ASCENSION!”
A Shout that launches things upwards; entities, items, basically anything that isn’t nailed down
PA-X: Distance "But all mid-spin is double-tap"
“DOUBLE TIME!”
Forces midspin projectiles to echo, doubling their strength
(Doesn’t really apply to Fortissimo, since they don’t often fire midspins, but could work well in tandem with others.)
(Maybe if they shout “TWIN SHOT DOUBLE TIME”, they launch two midspins that then double in strength.)
RJ-X: Fear Grows "But multitaps are delayed by one tile"
“SHOCKWAVE!”
???
