A half-pufferfish character who used to live on a mostly aquatic planet with others of his kind. However, after exploring everything his planet had to offer, he craved a more action-filled life. His sea-bound nature limited his ability to be out of the water for extended periods of time; that is, until he discovered a marine artifact that allowed him to be on land for as long as he pleased. With this and a boost to his confidence, he set off to explore the cosmos, managing to encounter others, Zana and Cadenza, who share similar aspirations.
Mischevious
Bombastic
Confident to the point of being overdramatic
Tries to be tough, but gets spooked easily
Independent
Likes:
Explosions
Showing off how cool his powers are
Rock and dubstep music
Dislikes:
Being startled/being touched (gets spooked easily, and spikes up when this happens)
Being called cute (most of the time)
When it's too hot or dry out
Fun Facts:
Terrified of dolphins ("They’re super smart and know how to get high off pufferfish. Why do they know how to do that?!")
He's technically more physically inspired by a porcupinefish instead of a pufferfish (Porcupinefish have bigger spines. Same difference to him; he doesn’t care.)
His spines aren’t poisonous.
(Although the art I’ve drawn of him has sleeves, he probably prefers to roll his sleeves up so the spines on his arms don’t poke at his clothes.)
Doesn’t like it when people tease him about his height, but is less offended by people calling him cute (embraces it; likes how his destructive nature contrasts with his cute appearance).
The landmines act as weapons or tools to aid his destructive abilities.
1-X: A Dance of Fire and Ice "But the right angle turned into a hairpin bend"
Reflector: Summons a “u-turn”, which can reflect/return projectile attacks to the attacker. (Alternatively, can be used as “elevators” to aid in vertical movement.)
2-X: Offbeats "But the angled parts are missing one shot"
Nuke: Destroys a small part of the land in front of him.
3-X: THE WIND-UP "But when the radian is nπ/4 (inner circle, n ∈ {1,2,3}), there is a long bar"
Quick Charge: A quick, precision-based charge laser attack, faster to charge and release at the expense of being weaker and short-ranged.
4-X: Love Letters "But when the angle is 90˚, it is a double press"
Duo-Bomb: Explosives that normally go off once now go off twice. (Does not double attacks farther than this.)
5-X: The Midnight Train "But you can only go outside"
Anti-Aimbot: A sort of EMP gadget that forces projectiles the other way/to take the longest route.
6-X: PULSE "But three balls and the original track"
Double Trouble: Summons a second planetary sphere to aid in combat.
7-X: Spin 2 Win "But when the track is at right angles (outer ring), there is a long bar"
Power Beam: A long-ranged, area-based charge laser attack, more powerful at the expense of being longer to charge.
8-X: Jungle City "But every time it passes through n polygons, it loops n times"
Chain Bombs: A group of throwable bombs that link together and get stronger the more sides the shape has (triangle has 3 nodes, square 4).
9-X: Classic Pursuit "But the 12-X Crab is here"
Combo Strike: A special attack for the mace that gets stronger the more times it has been used before in battle (like Rollout).
10-X: Butterfly Planet "But the judgment limits are changing"
Heavy Impact: A mace that has a tough-to-hit sweet spot; the user can alter how early or late their swing can be to hit that sweet spot. Donny's main weapon of choice.
11-X: Heracles "But every closed shape has one less side"
Geo-Mayhem: Similar to the XH-X Crab (Poly), can create shapes to act as projectiles (these shapes often explode on contact with their target).
12-X: Artificial Chariot "But there are too many squares"
Explosive Crates: Creates explosive boxes that can be remotely detonated or thrown.
Most EX Levels are the same as their normal counterparts; here are the unique ones.
1-EX: A Dance of Fire and Ice (Plum Remix) "But the right angle turned into a double-press hairpin."
Double Strength Reflector: Similar to the original Reflector, but reflects attacks at double strength. Additionally, if stepped on, emits a strong shockwave that can dissorient anyone too close.
5-EX: The Midnight Train ("dawn" edit) "But there are too many parallelograms"
Slant Bombs: A parallelepiped (3D parallelogram) box, similar to the Explosive Crates. Unlike the Explosive Crates, they’re easier to push around, slide around more easily, and have their explosion focused on their slant axis.
7-EX: Spin 2 Win (Ssimille, NumbEr07 Remix) "But every rotation pauses for one beat"
Red Light!: Allows the user to launch twirls as projectiles that pause the target's movements for a short period of time.
8-EX: Jungle City (RoDy.cOde Remix) "But every time it passes through n polygons, it loops n+1 times"
Chain Bomb X: A more powerful version of Chain Bomb.
9-EX: Classic Pursuit ("La Poursuite" Version) "But every closed figure has a rotation"
Dizzy-gons: Alters shape projectiles so they disorient their targets.
10-EX: Butterfly Planet (KOTDARI Remix) "But mid-spin is taking over all closed figures"
Midspin Attack: Allows the user to launch midspins as projectiles.
11-EX: Heracles (Quree Remix) "But the position of each closed figure is upside down"
Flipside: A telekinetic gadget that flips things upside-down to disorient opponents.
XC-X: Credits "But the rabbit and the snail are swapped"
Speed Switcheroo: A passive effect that, when activated, makes slow things fast and fast things slow.
XF-X: Third Wave Flip-Flop: "But I can only walk diagonally"
Cross Bombs: Placeable explosives that, when detonated, cause spikes to emerge from the ground in a cross shape around the bomb, forcing everyone to walk on the diagonals instead.
XH-X: Final Hope "But every time it passes through n polygons, the speed is increased by 0.01n times"
Polygon Rush: Every shape used in battle (even by opponents) makes the user faster; the more sides the shape has, the faster it makes the user.
XM-X: Miko Skip: "But without the hairpin"
Disc of No Returns: A disc-shaped device that, when thrown, temporarily and automatically disables any weapons or abilities that return like a boomerang (yo-yos, whips, lassos, etc.) This effect lasts for as long as it’s active, but can easily be recalled or destroyed.
XN-X: Trans-Neptunian Object: "But there's a midspin at the middle of all the tiles that's >180˚"
Neptunian Spiral: A special ability focusing on the planet Donny summons to use his powers. When activated, the planet takes the form of a small dark orb with rings (sort of like Saturn) that he can throw. After a short time limit, the planet launches 4-8 giant midspins out in a wide, spiraling pattern. These projectiles are slow and restrict enemy movement. Afterwards, the planet returns to normal.
XR-X: Rose Garden: "But each rotation changes the number of planets"
Rose Drone: A floating flower-shaped drone that constantly rotates. Every full rotation, it automatically toggles Donny’s planet count – either splitting one into two, making attacks faster at the cost of being weaker, or combining two into one (which looks different than Donny’s default planet), making attacks stronger yet slower.
XS-X: Party of Spirits "But something goes wrong with every closed figure"
Pattern Crasher: Makes opponents’ shape-based abilities act wonky & have a hard time working the way they’re supposed to.
ML-X: La nuit de vif: "But each passage through a closed figure changes the number of planets"
Dupli-Mutation: A mine or sentry-like object that creates a large circular perimeter around it. Any time anything crosses this threshold (enemies, projectiles, even Donny himself), his current planet(s) either do one of two things:
If he only has 1, it duplicates (like Double Trouble), but the clone mutates in some way.
If he has 2, they combine into one with a temporary, powerful mutation that wears off after a few seconds.
Only a few mutations, and they happen at random:
Pierce: (Blood red aura) Attacks pierce through defences at the cost of being slightly weaker
The 2 → 1 mutation would remove the debuff
Echo: (Ghostly afterimages) Attacks echo more than once, dealing slightly more damage, at the cost of needing more stamina
The 2 → 1 mutation echoes a lot more
Wither: (Crumbling slightly) Attacks have a sort of decay/poison affinity, dealing damage over time for a short while, but the planet “burns out” and vanishes afterwards
The 2 → 1 mutation deals more damage, and the planet fizzles back to normal instead of vanishing
Lure: (Glowing & sparkling slightly) Creates harmless illusory doubles around the battlefield to distract opponents at the cost of attacks being slightly weaker
The 2 → 1 mutation makes it so these doubles flash and temporarily blind anyone who makes contact with them
These mutations also apply to Heavy Impact (Donny’s main weapon of choice, a mace that utilizes one of his planets).
MN-X: Night Wander "But the midspin is missing"
Midspin Deletus!: Deletes all existing midspins from the field.
PA-X: Distance "But every square that closes the figure becomes a hairpin bend"
Slo-Mo Shapes: A passive effect that, when activated, severely decreases the speed of shape projectiles.
RJ-X: Fear Grows "But multitap and single keys swap"
Strength Switcheroo: A passive effect that, when activated, makes strong attacks weak and weak attacks strong.
T2-X: Sing Sing Red Indigo: "But mid-spin turned into a hairpin"
Return to Sender: A placable explosive that magnetizes any projectiles launched in the vicinity. After a remote detonation (via a quick gesture of sorts), it explodes and launches the projectiles outwards. The explosion itself doesn’t do physical damage.
T1-EX: NEW LIFE: "But every time you pass a strip, it will make you more tired"
Leech Beam: A laser attack, similar to Quick Charge or Power Beam, that, while it isn’t as powerful as the other lasers, has the special property of slowing down/exhausting whoever it hits.
T4-EX: Third Sun: "But the composer destroyed the DLC when making the level"
Glitch Bomb: A turret or sentry-like placable object that destabilizes the battlefield, as if messing with the code of the world itself. “Walls lose collision, floors pulse in and out, certain enemy abilities misfire or ‘desync.’” This bomb doesn’t technically explode, but the effects it has are destructive nonetheless.
