801 Chophouse started at the newly erected Principal building located at 801 Grand

Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa in 1993. 801 Chophouse, owned by Jimmy and Jamie

Lynch, is a product of inspiration from the fantastic 1920’s steakhouses; Delmonico’s,

Smith & Wollensky’s, Keens, and Peter Luger.

The Lynch brothers strived to create the same comfortable, yet elegant, club-like feel of

those high-end steakhouses on the East Coast but located here in the Midwest.

801 Chophouse has now grown into multiple locations across the Midwest and has

developed two more distinct restaurant concepts: 801 Fish & 801 Local. When you visit any

801 location, you’ll experience the same intimate and comfortable, yet upscale atmosphere.

Each of our restaurants are unique in their own way, but all of them maintain the same 801

Restaurant Group values: an innovative menu with dishes including the finest in USDA prime steaks, fresh fish and crustaceans, and an award winning wine list. The tradition and passion for service and hospitality is the 801 way.
