801 OLD FASHIONED One story about how the Old Fashioned started – it was invented in 1880, in Louisville, KY in a private super club then brought to Waldorf-Astoria, NYC. Traditionally it was made by putting sugar in the bottom of a glass and melting it with water – stirring until it was melted, then adding the bourbon and bitters, a piece of lemon peel and ice. The cocktail and it’s traditional recipe has morphed over the years and at 801 we do our version….
INGREDIENT AMOUNT
Buffalo Trace or Old Forester 100 Proof 2 oz
Simple Syrup 0.5 oz
Orange Bitters 2 dashes
Glassware Lowball with a Big Cube
Garnish Orange Peel & Black Cherry
PROCEDURE:
· Add Simple Syrup & 1 black cherry to a Lowball glass
· Muddle
· Add Bourbon & 2 dashes of orange bitters
· Stir
· Add large cube
· Express an Orange Rip over the top of the drink ~ drop the rip in the glass add a black cherry
