Rock Color

Video & Animation

The video artwork Rock Color employs artificial intelligence generation technology to create an abstract animated video with three-dimensional effects, using water's edge rocks from Zhangjiajie as the base image. The piece primarily incorporates China's traditional Five Colors (cyan, yellow, red, white, and black), the verdant green pervasive in Zhangjiajie's mountains, sunrise and sunset hues, purple tones, and abstract rock painting colors dynamic transformations of rocky textures. Rooted in Chinese philosophy, the Five Colors symbolize nature and the cosmos. The design concept posits that the motion of these colors gives birth to Zhangjiajie's landscapes, celestial phenomena, and the diversity of vibrant natural hues and life forms. Unlike works by AI artists like Refik Anadol, this piece emphasizes the dynamic movement of only one color among the Five Colors on specific images, while its abstract rock paintings generate motion through the depiction of "mountains." Key AI tools include Midjourney, Runway, and Suno, with source material sampled from Zhangjiajie Art Festival promotional footage. The soundtrack, an electronic composition titled "Full Moon Over Zhangjiajie" generated by Suno, features guitar instrumentation to enhance rhythmic vitality and visual dynamism throughout the video.
