Prof. Riccardo Nucera graduated with honors in Dentistry from the University of Messina in 1999. He earned a Ph.D. in Dentistry in 2003, followed by a second Ph.D. in Orthodontics and Pedodontics in 2008. In 2011, he completed a three-year residency in Orthodontics at the University of Chieti-Pescara. From 2011 to 2019, he worked as an assistant professor at the University of Messina. Since 2019, he has held the position of academic professor in service at the University of Messina, where Currently, he serves as the Director of the three-year residency Orthodontic Program, and Director for the one-year master’s program in "Clinical Orthodontics." Additionally, he is the Head of the Clinical Orthodontic Service at the University Hospital “G. Martino” of Messina. Prof. Nucera achieved certification from the European Board of Orthodontics in 2023 and became an affiliate member of the Edward Angle Society of Orthodontists (North Atlantic Component) in 2024. The same year he was elected secretary, for the two-year period 2027-28, of the Italian Society of Orthodontics (SIDO). He has presented lectures at numerous international conferences and authored several scientific articles published in peer-reviewed journals. Among his accolades, he received the prestigious Tiziano Baccetti Award in 2017. Currently, Prof. Nucera serves on the editorial boards of various orthodontic journals. His areas of expertise include biomechanics, skeletal anchorage, digital orthodontics, CBCT imaging and early treatment.
