Temporary anchorage devices (TADs) are widely used in orthodontic treatment. The application of TADs reduces unwanted tooth movement and provides anchorages and form a new force system to treat more complicated orthodontic patients. Insertion position of TADs is determined based on anatomical characteristics (bone density and location) of patients’ dentomaxillofacial structure, force vector orientation and treatment goal. Biomechanical planning is essential, as improper force application or placement can lead to root interference, screw loosening, or even failure of anchorage. This session aims to provide orthodontic practitioners with a comprehensive framework for optimizing the use of TADs in advanced treatment scenarios.
