Alveolar bone exostoses, is a benign bony convex outgrowth on the jaw bone, alveolar bone exostoses (ABE) are localized, often on the buccal, labial or lingual side. ABE sometimes develop during or after orthodontic treatment and can vary in size and shape. Orthodontic treatment, particularly with tooth movement, can sometimes trigger or exacerbate the formation of exostoses. This is due to the forces applied during treatment, which can stimulate bone remodelling. Study shows that higher precedence of ABE development was seen in patients during incisor retraction, especially with preexisting palatal tori. Treatment of ABE consists of observation, surgical removal and self-remission. In some cases, exostoses may regress or disappear on their own after orthodontic forces are discontinued. Conclusion base on the literature, the rate of incisor retraction, tooth movement, and preexisting palatal tori can increase the risk of alveolar bone exostoses.
