MSgt Nicole Heussner is your Retention Office Manager.
The process to go from Enlisted to Officer is worked with the Recruiting Team.
AFOQT TESTING
Looking to go Enlisted to Officer Here is the AFOQT Locations (Officer ASVAB type test) https://access.afpc.af.mil/pcsmdmz/Testing%20Locations.pdf
The process to go from Enlisted to Officer is worked with the Recruiting Team.
The process to join as an Officer is also worked with the Recruiting Team.
Note: Step 1 and 2 are pretty interchangeable
Step 1. Check the vacancy list (scroll to the bottom of this page)
If there is a different job you're interest in, contact me at Nicole.Heussner@us.af.mil
I can often find out if we are expecting any other openings in that specific AFSC.
Step 2. Talk with your chain of command about your goals and intention.
Your Commander can say no to a career change request.
This may occur for a variety of reasons. Getting their approval on the front end of the process is VERY critical.
Step 3. Verify your ASVAB qualifications meet the standards for the job.
You can find your ASVAB scores on your Career Data Brief.
Once you know your ASVAB scores, check to see if you're eligible for the new jobs you're interested in.
ASVAB Scores for AFSCs (Requires CAC Sign in)
If you're unable to CAC sign in, I recommend searching your desired AFSC and ASVAB requirement:
Example: In google or your search engine of your choice type in:
"What is the ASVAB requirement for AFSC 1C8X3".
Lastly, you can also see if the new job you're interested in has a Re-Class Bonus here. These Re-Class Bonuses change often!
Step 4. If your chain of command supports the move, set up a career tour or a phone call with the new job.
This may mean connecting with ROM Nicole.Heussner@us.af.mil to get contact info
or you can walk over to the job and schedule time with them that way.
In this step you'll want to check your assumptions at the door.
Ask the gaining unit clarifying questions, such as report time, end time, what does the job entail, what is a typical duty day, are there promotion opportunities, how often is there a deployment, etc...
The gaining unit will also, at this time, have the opportunity to clarify their expectations for you, if you were to join the team.
The Gaining Commander can deny your request to re-class.
Step 5. Once you find the new job, check in with me to let me know if you have other questions about the job.
We'll also review your incentive file to see impact to any current incentives you are in.
Additionally, I'll ask that you have verified commander support from both the Losing and Gaining in this step.
If everything checks out and you want to transfer jobs, I'll start working your Career Change Worksheet.
Re-test your ASVAB
If you are a 133AW Wing Member who needs to retest, you can contact the FDO office 612-713-2038 or 612-713-2024.
If you are a recruit who wants to retest, contact your recruiter. Recruiting Team .
Note: Retention Office does not re-enlist members. You'll work primarily with your CSS Team. Check out the process below.
STEP ONE:
Work with your CSS team to verify your eligibility for re-enlistment.
Your CSS team has a Reenlistment Worksheet that has a spot for your Commander to sign & a spot for me to sign.
Your Commander needs to have their portion completed first, otherwise I won't know what you would be eligible for.
Your CSS also has access to a tracker that tells them if you are eligible for an incentive and if so, which one.
STEP TWO:
After your Commander signs off on your Reenlistment Worksheet, email me your Reenlistment Worksheet. Nicole.Heussner@us.af.mil
There is a section for me to review, mark and sign.
I will mark which incentives you are eligible to apply for based off what your commander stated, sign and email it back to you.
You may need to send me FITNESS and PCARS reports. If you need help finding those click here.
Bonus Programs Linked here
STEP THREE:
Schedule your re-enlistment with your CSS team and let me know (by email) which date you're reenlisting on and how long you are re-enlisting for.
There are mass-reenlistments over Drill, or you can coordinate another time with your CSS as is best for you.
I do not conduct re-enlistments, I offer re-enlistment incentives based off what your commander authorizes and what you choose to do.
STEP FOUR:
You should know and understand your incentives BEFORE re-enlisting, that is why the Reenlistment Worksheet needs to be sent to me in Step 2.
Before you raise your hand and sign your name on a new contract, be sure you understand your eligibility.
Do not assume as the incentive programs can change without notice.
This website is reviewed daily and updated quickly after a program changes.
NOTE: Before starting your Re-enlistment process you should have met with your Unit Career Advisor (UCA).
Your UCA has a survey for you to complete 9-12 months out from your ETS. Leadership wants to hear from you! Did you have a chance to do that? (Read about the UCA Program here).

STEPS TO GET US STARTED
Send me the first page of the AF1288, Application for Ready Reserve Assignment, RIP, Fitness and PCARS. In addition, you will need to contact your current Medical Unit and obtain an AF422 and send that to me.
Once I receive the above items, I will work with the 133 MDG on your medical approval for a possible transfer.
The process is to discuss transfer opportunities AFTER we know you are medically approved to transfer. Once, we know you are medically qualified by 133 MDG, we will discuss transfer opportunities in more details and if necessary, loop in leadership (Loosing Unit/Gaining Unit) for approvals.
The formal process of AF1288, required for the transfer:
Contact your FSS/MPF Separation’s Office
Get the AF1288 –work with your FSS/MPF Separation’s Office to complete Section II "Loosing Organization".
Once that is completed, we will have a hand-off to our FSS team, and they will work with you to set a date for enlistment with us. Your enlistment duration will be whatever is remaining on your current contract.
After you enlist, the completed AF1288 and DDFORM4 is sent back to the losing FSS team, and our Force Management team will project you to our Wing.
Note: There may be additional documents or actions needed from you, but for the most part the above is a good overview of basic process requirements.
Looking forward to working with you!
Email: Nicole.Heussner@us.af.mil
STEP ONE Contact your Active-Duty base's Air National Guard In-Service Recruiter (ISR).
They will clarify the initial process for you.
If you are having trouble finding your ISR contact our Recruiting Flight Chief TSgt Jesse Todd at Jesse.Todd@us.af.mil
STEP TWO After you meet with your ISR, they will have you complete some paperwork and apply for the appropriate program.
Once you are approved for the program (Palace Chase or Palace Front), you'll be connected with our Recruiting Team.
Our Recruiting Team will work to get you approved by our Wing.
The approval includes a review of your service record, and our medical team will review your medical record.
Throughout that process, your recruiter will keep you updated until you are officially approved and gained to our Wing!
Note: Each process can be slightly different, so having a good working relationship with your ISR and Recruiter is important.
Connect with our Recruiting Team.
Your recruiter will require the following documents (at a minimum, they may require more depending on your situation)
PHA Questionnaire
IMR
Vaccination Report
Enlisted Record Brief (ERB)
Fitness Report
Your recruiter will request our Medical team to review the documents and they will either recommend or not your eligibility to transfer.
While Medical is reviewing our request to gain you, your recruiter will prepare a DDFORM368 for you. You'll need to route this through your chain of command. This form has been taking 4-6 months, sometimes longer, to be approved or denied.
Once that is complete and you approved to be gained by our Medical team, you will choose your job and enlist with us. You may have an MOS that is compatible with an Air Force job, or this may be the perfect opportunity to cross-train into a new job!
Please note: This process is subject to change at any time, and you are advised to follow the requests from your assigned Recruiter.
This process is under review. In the meantime contact your Retention Office Manager.
This process is under review - until further clarification contact MSgt Nicole Heussner Nicole.Heussner@us.af.mil
Note: This process does NOT start with the Retention Office.
Start with emailing The Separations Office NCOIC MSgt Sarah Lee at Sarah.Lee.10@us.af.mil
Once you speak with her, she'll be able to clarify the next steps for you.
Each situation can be pretty individualized.
