Year 6

Production

Artists and producers collaborate effectively to connect their ideas in order to present a successful production

What?

We are learning:

  • Script, Songs and Choreographies.
  • The roles and responsibilities within a production team.
  • How to rehearse and improve on our drama and music techniques.
  • How to create and connect ideas that will make our production better.

Why?

We want to understand that:

  • Many people fulfill a variety of roles to perform a musical drama production (Function)
  • The success of a production depends on all members fulfilling their roles to the best of their ability (Responsibility)
  • Members of a production team connect their ideas to produce a successful performance (Connection)

How?

We will achieve this by using:

  • Self-management skills:
      • Planning our work
      • Fulfilling our responsibilities
  • Social skills:
      • Cooperating
      • Adopting roles
  • Communication:
      • Performing with confidence
      • Expressing our ideas

Below you can find links to all the songs from the production, as well as the lyrics. Get singing!!!

Here you can find the video we watched in class with a backstage visit to the Lion King

This video helped us to reflect on all the roles and responsibilities involved in a production. This is the graphic organiser we used to unlock all the unit's elements:

We used these two videos in class to think about what is "Good Singing" and "Bad Singing".

This helped us to think about the musical elements we need to consider when we are practising our songs. Based on these ideas we created rubrics that will help us assess our work as we progress through our rehearsals.

We discussed the elements we would need to work on and created rubrics to assess our progress:

We are using Flipgrid to monitor our progress in Songs and Dances and to assess ourselves and our peers. Click on the image below to access our Flipgrid Topics. Remember that you will need your school email address to access the site:
